Completely weatherproof and well-made.
I was taking a road trip from Boston to south eastern PA for Christmas, and had two people and two dogs in the car. We really needed something for the roof to put all the luggage and gifts into.Of course the day before we were to leave, Boston got a pretty bad sleeting storm that lasted over 24 hours. Getting it on the roof in that weather was not super fun, and filling it was less fun. I was so skeptical that 1) It would stay on the roof securely 2) nothing would be damaged inside upon our arrival.Well, we were on the road for over 8 hours in the worst sleeting, raining and windy weather I would not wish upon anyone. The buckles and straps were completely frozen when we arrived and it didn't budge a bit on the roof. Not only that, everything inside was bone dry when we unloaded it.I was so impressed. For the price you really can't beat it.Its a really sturdy bag. The material is thick and waterproof. The zipper is then completely covered by a flap that velcros down. The straps are pretty decent and very adjustable. Would totally recommend.

Getting Warranty Replacement -- On the original - strap ripped right off during 2nd usage - poorly stitched - hope 2nd is better
Update: The Vault Cargo website provides a lifetime warranty. I contacted the warranty support and they got back to me with 24 hours. They offered to replace the product (without any hassle). The replaced it quickly - the replacement is as advertised!I'm hoping the problem with the broken strap is an isolated issue. I plan to 're-review' the product after I use the replacement a few times. The material is heavy duty. I don't see any justification for the lack of 'waterproof' material - it's a think and heavy plastic - with a rubbery texture. In some light rain, it kept everything dry. Placing items inside in plastic bags is always a good idea for extremely wet conditions - in the event of condensation - or having water drip while removing items.Original: I used it for the only the 2nd time and the strap ripped off when I was tightening it. I was using only a moderate amount of force - pulling with one hand while sliding the strap through the clip on the other and the strap ripped right off the seam. It's poorly stitched.

Did the job
Was extremely helpful in carrying 6 people with all their stuff a round trip total of 22 hours without incident. It stayed put as was intended, and we didn't have any tears or questionable quality issues on its first outing. It is cumbersome to pick it up if you load it before putting it on the top of your vehicle, and it's hard to situate and fully pack if you put it on top then load it. We found that it was easiest to load it to capacity and use several people to pick it up and put it on top. It took a 6 foot 3 individual about 30 mins. to get it tied down once we got it up there, so I'm not sure how we'd have managed to get it up there without a tall person.

Nice travel bag
This was perfect for our little camping trip. Mind you I have a family of five. This bag was easy to install on the roof of our suv. Zipper side facing the rear of the vehicle. Held our 8 person tent, 5 pillows, 5 sleeping bags, 2 qn sized air beds, a twin sized air bed, 3 folding chairs and the two suitcases for our clothes. Basically everything but the perishables, and still had some room to spare. Held up perfect during the 5 hour trip at speeds of up to 80 with no worries. It did add some road/wind noise, but that’s to be expected. It’s a bag on top of your car. Not the most aerodynamic thing. We hit a rain storm about an hour into our return trip. That lasted well over a hundred miles. Despite my concerns about water collecting, everything was dry. Don’t over tighten the straps, tie up excess straps, zipper to the rear of the vehicle and it’s a great way to add storage room in your ride on some of those longer trips.

The Absolute Perfect Rooftop Bag!
This bag is AMAZING!! It was completely water and snow proof on our 3000 mile road trip at Christmas. This bag even froze in sub zero temps and still worked like a champ! It kept everything inside dry - including 2 canvas prints, along with electrical appliances and our luggage. The bag is HUGE! It fit into our roof rack, but that made the area inside the bag alittle smaller having to fit in the rack. We drive thru freezing rain and snow and low temps. All interstate miles. Very heavy duty zippers and tuff Velcro to cover the zipper area. I can’t believe how inexpensive this bag is for the quality! I love it! Once we got back from our trip, I hosted off the road salt and it’s still like brand new! The corner straps are a lot better than side straps in other bags. It never flapped in the wind at all. This is a must have if you travel needing extra storage on your roof!

We couldn't have been more pleased with the way that the bag held up
We were moving back to the midwest, a trip of almost 2,500 miles. We knew that we'd need a waterproof bag to hold our luggages being that we did not want to put the luggages in the SUV on the count of the three dogs traveling with us.We ended up purchasing a ROLA rooftop cargo basket (mounted to the factory installed roof rack) and used the Vault bag inside of it to protect our luggages against the elements. There were plenty of straps on the Vault bag to secure it to the cargo rack. We couldn't have been more pleased with the way that the bag held up. At first, it may seem cumbersome to get the straps adjusted to the cargo basket but it only was necessary to do this once. After that, it was easy to connect the straps to the basket.PROS: Durable, quality made, numerous strapsCONS: None noted

Straps need to be longer
For the most part this product worked great, but there is one problem that I think the manufacturer needs to change. I am using this on a Chevy equinox and the straps on the front and rear actually need to be the same length as the ones on the sides. I was only able to position the bag so that I could barely hook the front 2 straps and it was about 3” from being able to hook the rear 2 and that’s with both cross braces fully to the front and rear. I used a separate 1” wide ratchet strap around the bag thru the 2 main rails as a safety and it rode just fine.

Doesn't keep out rain and strap stitching weak
Drove with this for approx 80 miles on a rainy day, the zip was closed and the velcro flap was down all the way around but it still let in a lot of water and we arrived at our campsite to find we had a soaking wet sleeping bag .Another bad quality thing is the stitching on the straps and where they attatch to the bag was very weak. One of the straps came off completely when we tightened it and on another the stitching has begun to come apart . If the bag is not firmly secured then the police will stop you , so we bought a couple of good quality luggage straps to keep it securely fastened. I would not recommend this product as 2 of its main functions are to keep your belongings dry and securely fastened and it failed on both.

Falttasche Cargo Management

Not a roof box...it's a big bag
Looks like it has a hard base to straddle the roof bars on the photo but it doesn't. It's just a very big waterproof bag. That said for what you pay and using with a roof rack basket you can't go wrong....the waterproof zip looks ok and seems more water resistant than water proof. You can't park your car and leave it....it's just not secure.

Works great
Plenty of room for our camping gear. Easy to attach to the roof....tough and fully waterproof. Handled gale force winds and torrential rain with no problems at all. Perfect for an English summer.

One clip broke
It is a very convenient bag to add storage to our car but one of the clips broke during our second trip. See picture attached. There are 7 other clips so we hope it is fine? Thanks
