sturdy & well crafted feral cat shelter
I bought one, set it up, then went back and bought a second one. The setup instructions are pretty straightforward, and I got through both setups without problems, but I did find I had to stare at the hinge diagram/instructions extra-long to ensure I got it right both times. The second house setup was a little bit faster than the first house setup, likely because only a week or two separated the builds.I really like this shelter because is sturdy, solid, and safe. There is not a second door for an escape door. This keeps the warmth in and keeps the shelter size to a manageable size.I have one feral shelter mostly out in the open because that area doesn't have much roof overlap. We also set beverages on the roof of the shelter when we were outside by our pool in our small backyard. The other feral shelter is located on my covered open porch. For the shelter on my covered open porch, I leave the roof open on the shelter. I've had these about 8 months, and they still look brand new (refer photos) as they use quality, sturdy materials for the shelter construction. I highly recommend these due to the construction. One add-on that would extend the life: either position the completed feral shelter structure on cement, stone or seal the bottom of legs with paint or spar polyurethane because water will wick-up the legs along the woodgrain. Anything made with real wood needs this, so it is not unique to this shelter. In fact, I see it as a plus that the legs are real wood. Sealing the grain should help these shelters last perhaps 10+ years, depending on if any other maintenance arises over time. If ever I need another feral shelter, I'll be back to get a third from here. Finally, while shipping date posted was given, I want to thank this company. When I ordered my second feral cat house, single digit cold was in the Texas weather forecast. They sped up the delivery and I had it constructed and outside to keep the neighborhood strays more snuggly outside in advance of the worst of the winter storm. This coming year, I am so pleased that because construction is so quality, I'm ready - and I'm probably ready for the next 10-20 years' winters! THANK YOU FOR MAKING SUCH A GREAT SHELTER! Easy to Assemble, Sturdy. Offers great peace of mind.
This was very easy and fun to assemble. Plan on airing out components as they tell you to do (it's cedar). A couple of super-minor things in assembly: Watch out for short grain on the little brackets of the overhang (a quick pre-drill, using a bit that is just a little smaller than the spiral part of the screw shank prior to assembly should reduce the chance of those overhang pieces splitting--barring that, a bit of glue and a clamp should take care of it if it splits). Also, be sure to align the roof (side to side) before installing screws on the back hinges so that the roof lifts and drops without binding on either side. These are minor things that are not overly spelled out in otherwise perfect visual directions. It is thoughtfully designed and construction is very well-thought-out. The roof has little overhangs to prevent leakage, the roof and overhang piece both have roofing shingle material on them. The wall pieces have pegs that let you align walls before sinking screws. They give you an extra screw for each group of screws you need (I love that--too few companies do that anymore). The legs get the unit up off the ground (which adds years to the unit's lifespan and keeps the animal warmer) yet not too high to be accessible and inviting. They put the comfort of the animal first but then they must have worked and worked to make this so entirely easy to assemble. The package it arrives in asks you to let them know if anything is wrong or broken; sounds like they stand behind their product. I'm totally impressed with this simple, functional workmanship. The best part though, is that I sleep at night knowing that the homeless stray kitty who has lived in my heavily wooded area for a couple of years (where coyotes, fisher cats and bobcats prowl) can finally be safe and cozy. I placed my unit behind my garage where there is great privacy but where predators are less likely to visit. We're in a rural part of coastal Maine and this is the best of the best for us. I can't get over how happy this makes me.

Best Cat House for Your Money
I've had this Cat House for over a year now and my cat just loves it. She took to it right away. I would rather have her stay in my home, but she doesn't want anything to do with that....being that she was a stray living on her own when I trapped her and had her spayed. She has warmed up to me and I can pet her now. I like the fact that it has a separate compartment (separated by a removable wooden divider), where she can feel safe from predators. I purchased an outdoor heating pad and place that in the bottom under the warm comfy blanket, when the weather gets colder. I love the fact that water runs off of the roof when it rains. and you can open it up from the top to replace the blankets. I place a soft cat bed on top of the house during nice weather, as she loves to lay on top of it. This is very sturdy house. The only issue I have it the little awning that goes over the door is now kind of chipping away underneath, as it is not a solid piece of wood, but more like thin pieces underneath a solid piece of wood. I will have my husband patch it up. it still keeps the rain out, when needed. I will be purchasing another one, should i need it for my other cat or any new one I rescue. I had purchased a kitty tube with a heating pad for him years ago, and he seems to like that once it gets really cold. Between the two, i like this one more. i wish they would offer a light colored outdoor fitted cover to go over the top of this, as in the summer time, being its black roofing like material, it gets really hot, when I have it on my deck. Worth every penny I paid for it and very easy to put together.
