Like it
Needed something to locate malfunctioning components on various circuit boards. The IR resolution is fairly low (compared to visible light cameras) but nevertheless, it has plenty of resolution for my needs. For my work, I’m fairly close to the object I’m scanning so there is a good amount of parallax (mismatch between what IR camera and visible light cameras see). The result, if you program it to capture both visible light and IR images and overlay both into a single image, there is a substantial shift between both images. If you use this camera for longer range projects (scan windows or doors for air leaks) the image overlay will be much better. Great storage capacity, easy transfer of images and long rechargeable battery life along with excellent IR image quality make this a good value.

This will not work with newer iphones
It seems like a great thermal camera and I am happy with the picture quality etc. Unfortunately we need to be able to use this in the field and generate reports. The HIKmicro app is not compatible with ios11 and later versions. When connecting the camera to wifi there is a glitch where it will not enter in the network password. In my opinion this is a good camera for those that want to look at the photos on the camera but not for those that need to generate a photo report for their clients and connect to wifi etc. I will be returning this camera.

Good product and customer support
UPDATE 6/2025: Unit only charges using the manufacturer's provided USB A-to-C cable. Standard USB C cables don't work. Not sure if it was always this way or if this is new behavior. Don't lose that cable! - Touchscreen interface is very responsive, and for the most part, very intuitive. - Great selection of heatmap color palettes: Ironbow is probably the best but Fusion (red/yellow/white) is also a good choice. - Turning on the LED "work light" is performed by "swiping down" from the top, like an Android tablet.

Very nice alternative to FLIR camera, 4.8 stars
Quick summary: < PLUSES > * High resolution 192x144 IR camera * Nice quality screen * Lightweight * Visual camera for a hybrid "fusion" image * Wifi connection allows controlling with a smartphone or computer * Tripod mount < MINUSES> * Some parts of the UI could use improvement (number picker causes unresponsiveness and keyboard could be better) * Battery is not user serviceable * Fusion mode requires manually specifying distance for proper alignment More details: I have used a FLIR One prior to this which ended up having issues and was out of warranty. Then I saw this HIKMICRO pocket thermal camera which an impressive IR resolution of 192x144. This camera even has a regular visible light spectrum camera which is used for the "Fusion" image mode which is comparable to FLIR's MSX feature which does the same thing. However, I did find the Fusion mode to require a bit of manual work. You have to correctly specify the distance the object is for the overlay image to line up properly. I do wish this was a bit smarter and could do it automatically. This is advertised as a "Pocket" camera, which will indeed fit into my pocket but to be honest I would not feel comfortable putting this in my pocket with the lenses uncovered. I don't know how durable the glass on the camera is and I don't want to find out either. I do wish there was a sliding lens cover that was part of this camera for a little extra peace of mind. There's a threaded tripod mount on the bottom of this camera as well if you want to be able to use it with a tripod. *Connectivity* This camera has USB-C, Wifi and Bluetooth connectivity. With the USB connection, you can easily plug it into a computer and grab your files from the device. Wifi is flexible where you have a few options using a mobile device. You can setup a wifi network on the camera itself, connect to an existing wifi network, or even setup a mobile hotspot on your phone and connect to that. The HIKMICRO app (tested on Android) works well and allows you remotely view and control the camera. As with many consumer electronics today, this camera is difficult to perform maintenance on. There are no screws exposed and the battery is not easily replaced. The battery won't last forever so it would have been nice if it was a bit easier to access but I also understand the desire to create a sleek looking product without screws showing. *User experience* The on-screen user experience could be a bit better. When going to a setting that requires me to choose from a list of numbers, the interface freezes for a few seconds before it responds and shows a list of number. The on-screen keyboard is a bit annoying, which I primarily only needed to setup Wifi (entering wifi credentials). As you type, the text doesn't show up in the textbox but instead goes towards a suggestion box of words that could match what you're typing. This might be fine for common words, but something like a wifi password (hopefully) isn't a common word. Once you're done typing out your word, you then have to pick from the suggestion and only then will it end up in the text box. Overall, I'm really happy with this thermal camera. There are a few minor annoyances with some parts of the user interface but all the core functionality works fine which is why I still think it deserves a 5 star rating (well somewhere around 4.8 in my opinion but that's not an option). Hopefully a firmware update will address these issues in the near future.

Great Camera, bad app.
The camera works fine, the app... not so much. I thought with the app you would be able to export photos, but really the only thing the app works for, is being a secondary screen while taking pictures.

Best form factor by far
I've used several different thermal cameras and this one is my favorite. Not only the form factor but also the features. Starting with the former though having it is a familiar point-and-shoot-camera shape just generally makes it natural to use; even up to the capture button on the top right. As a side effect you also get a very portable package that can fit in a pocket. The sensor and display work at a pretty good frame rate without some of the jerkiness I've dealt with before. Decent detail but note that the normal camera will be slightly offset when looking at things close up. There's a good amount of data including the hottest and coolest points as well as the current center. As far as I can tell it's accurate on the things I've tested. What I really like about this device is that it can stream a full time image to your phone but even better it can be picked up as an rtsp stream from anything. Thermal security camera anyone? Once you set up the stream from the app you can use the admin user and the password you set up to get a stream with standard Hikvision urls like <IP>:554/Streaming/Channels/201 for the thermal output. The app is useful for things besides setting up a login. It can retrieve captured images and control just about everything without needing to touch the camera at all. Construction-wise it's rubber body with little that seems like it could break. The lenses are helpfully inset to be protected from drops and I see a lot of thought doing into it. There's nothing I'd change about this thing. It does the basic advertised job but does it well with a few extra tricks.

Great for inspecting
Great long battery life however the picture transfer option is the only downside. I just take pictures with my phone
