I’m a tall guy (6’4”) and should of bought an XL bike, I got a great deal on a L though lol.. I now have a longer seat post to have the correct seat height, and added these 120mm bars and I think it’s going to be much more comfortable for cruising around town, and on the bike trail. It puts me in a more upright position and should help the shoulder pain. I live in Florida, and mainly do pavement riding. This will be much more comfortable for this, please note there is very minimal ascents or descents here so can’t say if I’d recommend doing what I did if you have a lot of hills.
