Different but it works well.
Although very different to my previous 5 series which served faithfully for many years and got through two replacement cutting cassettes and many cleaner refills, the current version, although not self cleaning and without the flexible cutting head, seems to work very well, being relatively smooth and quiet although not as flexible as the old model which I have been very pleased with in the past. The beard/ sideburn trimmer is not as convenient, being a separate item which requires swapping with the shaving head, but meets my simple needs very well.I have only been using this one for four days, and the battery indicator still says it is fully charged. Cleaning under the tap is unusual for me but seems to work quite well. Certainly cheaper as I will no longer need to replace the cleaning cassette every month. So, on balance, I am very happy with this new incarnation of an old friend.

Good and easy to use; not the closest shave
A good razor which charges resonably quickly and is easy to use and clean. The shave isn't as close as I'd like, but it's great for days where I don't have the time or energy to use a hand razor. If you don't mind a little shadow, this would be good for you.I've never used the body groomer attachment.

Good shaver but lacks storage case.
Purchased as a gift for my son as his first shaver. He is happy with it and it is reasonable value for money but it would be nice if it had some sort of storage case.

Excellent shave, easily done, nice to handle about 9 inches
The shave was something you just worked at. It was almost as good as a blade ans resulted in a nice smooth face with no nicks and operated quite silently. The cleaning was very easy - I opened it up and surprisingly nothing there!! So I didn't have to use the brush provided nor wash it, which I could. The only drawback was the continental 2 pin plug which didn't charge plugged into to bathroom shaver unit. However, it did charge nicely when plugged into a 3 pin to 2 pin adapter. I like the built in battery which saves wires while I shave. I had a previous version of a Braun shaver which worked quite well but had to be used with a plug in wire. The new Braun shaver replaces my Phillips 5000 shaver which didn't shaver very well despite getting new cutters. Get a Bruan Series 5 shaver and you won't regret it!

Excellent product, but mine went wrong within 8 months and getting a refund took 47 days
When it works, the Series 5 is an excellent product, engineered to a high standard, and sold at a very competitive price. However, I encountered reliability issues with mine within the first 8 months, and claiming on Braun's 5 year warranty led to a long and frustrating experience! In May 2024, after decades of using Philips shavers and having no issues with them at all, I decided to try something different and bought my first Braun shaver.Braun market the Series 5 as being "made in Germany" and "built to last every day, for years". But mine developed a fault within the first 8 months, whereby it would suddenly run out of charge while I was in the middle of shaving, without giving me any warning first. So one minute I'd be shaving with plenty of charge remaining (according to the three battery indicator dots) and the next it would be completely dead (unresponsive when I pressed the on/off button). The Series 5 has a low charge indicator, which is supposed to flash red and beep when it's low on charge, but mine didn't.So I sent an email to Braun, claiming on their 5 year warranty, thinking they would take good care of me. I agreed to post my Series 5 back to Braun's service centre in Nottingham, safe in the knowledge that it would either be repaired or, if it was deemed irreparable, a "like-for-like replacement" handle would be sent back to me.Well, 7 days after I posted my Series 5 back to Braun, a week in which I was unable to shave, I received a package through the post from Braun. They had concluded that my Series 5 was irreparable, so decided to send me back a Series 6 instead, with a note saying "upgraded to new S6 Sensoflex body". This annoyed me, for five reasons:1. It wasn't a like-for-like replacement 2. The colour was different (the Series 6 is black and blue, the Series 5 is black and white and looks better IMO)3. The head was different (the Series 6 has a head that swivels and is bulkier than the Series 5's)4. They only sent me the handle (so now I had a Series 6 handle, mismatched with a Series 5's box and accessories)5. They didn't check with me first if I was happy to "upgrade" to a Series 6So, obviously, I didn't use the Series 6 and sent it straight back to Braun. To cut a long story short, 16 days after I originally posted my Series 5 back to Braun, they admitted that their service centre currently didn't stock the Series 5. Why didn't they tell me that sooner? Finally, 25 days after I posted my Series 5 back to Braun (and 47 days after I first emailed them) they gave me a full refund!Do I regret switching from Philips to Braun? Yes. This was a bad customer experience and wasted so much time. Braun are apparently unable to repair the Series 5 and they don't stock replacements, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of buying one.

Poor from Braun
Less than 5 months old and won't hold charge for more than a couple of shaves. Will not start on occasion without plugging in the charger for a few seconds to bring it back to life. Will now have to send off for repair as per Amazon support. Looking at other reviews I do not seem to be the only one with these issues. Shame on you Braun shocking product on this occasion.

Shaves as close as a razor
I haven't used an electric shaver for well over a decade, and my last look at things was pretty poor. This shaver has changed my perspective on these yokes, it's a game changer for me. I can legitimately achieve the same finish that I would normally get with a wet razor. It's easy to use, easy to clean, easy to charge. The only thing preventing me from giving it a perfect 10/10 review is the fact that:1. it can't achieve a razor sharp straight line, e.g. trimming sideburns neatly2. the fact that the rounded attachment is somewhat inset means it's difficult to get close to e.g. in front of your ear, or directly under the nose.Other than those minor points, this is an excellent product at a fantastic price. Highly recommended.
