Using an egg sinker to above your hook, held by a swivel or snap swivel, is one of the very best bottom fishing rigs. Use 1/4 oz. up to 1 oz. egg sinkers when fishing for bullheads or catfish in still or slow moving waters. When shore fishing in saltwater, use 1-1/2 oz. to 3 oz. egg sinkers above an 18" wire leader with 5/0 to 7/0 hook for bluefish, using chunks of bunker or mackerel or whole frozen squid for bait. Use 1 oz. up to 3 or 4 oz. egg singer rigs above a snelled Virginia hook for blackfish. The line slips through the sinker allowing bites to be felt or seen without the fish feeling the weight. One of the simplest and best bottom, still fishing rigs of all.
