Yes it is to leave in. After washing your hair, rub it through with praying hands, then scrunch, if you’re curly

how well does this clump and define 4b and 4c hair?

I have a 4c hair and I don’t think it does much for defining my curls. I tend to use a curl sponge along side it and that works a bit better.
