The Ultimate Guys' Body Book: Not-So-Stupid Questions About Your Body

Good book
I pre-read this for my 10 year old son to give to him to help guide him along his impending path thru puberty and I was not been disappointed. The book makes for a good discussion starter.I was worried that it could be a ultra conservative christian approach that ignored reality, but it doesn't do that. For the most part, it is level headed and tries to frame the topics in both medical (the author is a doctor) and biblical. He does a good job of presenting the problem, showing support and providing logical conclusions that I believe most people would approve. It is written in a manner that pre-teens are willing and interested in reading. We have the same book for girls that his sister read quite thoroughly and when we first got this book he took a strong interest in reading it as well. The chapter on pornography is a bit different than the rest and I wonder if it is an especially hot topic for him for personal reasons. He takes a AA approach (including a buddy system and somewhat extreme measures to avoid it) and I can easily see the approach having a negative effect on the average teen. There are better ways to deal with the issue. However, it does make more sense when one considers the next chapter on masterbation and his effort to make sure the teen does not feel a sense of guilt over it, that there are good arguments on both sides of the fence. I guess the guilt trip he wants to inspire over pornography is to make sure that one does not require the other, which is a fair point, tho not directy mentioned in the book.I am thinking of adding a few pages to sprinkle some of my thoughts on several matters. If you do not have time to pre-read the enter book, you will probably want to at least read the last three chapters so you can have a chat with your son about your perspective on these matters. The chapters before that are very fact driven and I think few would argue against or feel a need to refine much anything he wrote.

This is a great book! If you want to guide your boys during puberty, this is a must!
This is a great book for boys going through puberty. Each chapter is about 3 pages long, is an easy reading and gives great explanation. You can have your boy read this alone or with you as the parent, just how the author suggested. Our Son and we (mom and dad) have enjoyed reading this book. Each chapter also includes Bible scripture reference.Yes it is written with the Christian belief in mind, if you are a Christian, Catholic, or a believer in God and Jesus Christ and the Bible as the code of morals and values, then you will love this book. If you don't have a belief, but want your child to be raised emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually healthy, this is the book for you.

Amazing Christian Resource
I have a 10 year old boy and I've been reading this book to him nightly as a devotional. He hasn't started puberty yet, but I want to make sure that he has a good Christian understanding of what God had planned for his body before he goes through it (and especially before others try to teach him from a worldly perspective). I told him once we've read through it the book will be his to reference for when he has further questions. The author does an excellent job of balancing real-life examples, medical understanding, and Biblical truths to ease fears and prepare boys for their transition into manhood. If you are a parent with a child entering puberty in the next few years you owe it to your child to buy this book (or the Ultimate Girls' Book if you've got one of them) & read it with your kid(s).

Christian support of physical changes
I like the Christian, supportive view while describing the physical changes a boy goes thru. This is fun, light reading, appropriate for those in grade 5 and up, in my opinion. Probably too simplistic for those in HS. This book makes it okay to develop slowly or differently. It is easy to locate a paticular physical aspect to read about, with out reading the entire book. Well done. It also covers teen issues like alcohol, trying drugs, ponography, and waiting for sexual relations. I did get another book that dealt with more of the general emotional aspects of adolscence which was missing from this book.

Great knowledge and conversation starters for my pre-teens
My two boys, ages 10 and 12, have read this book cover to cover. They learned a ton, and my husband and I are using their new knowledge as a springboard for even more great conversations. It's written at an easy reading level without watering down truth. If it had a "sequel" I would buy it! :)

I am so happy that I bought this book
I am so happy that I bought this book. My son recently turned 11 and I was really feeling like he must have some questions that as a woman I wasn't really sure how to answer well. I can tell he is very interested because the first night that he had the book, I asked him if he wanted to read the first chapter and he informed me that he had already read the first three. I think that 5th grade is the perfect age to give this book. The boys are a little bit mature while still being willing to ask questions and have some dialogue. If you wait too long before you give the book, I have a feeling it gets more awkward for both parent and child.

Really good book for Christian parent of boys
Really good book for Christian parent of boys. Its godly wisdom for everything in this day and age. It addresses So many issues and is a valuable resource for boys. My husband will be reading it with my son. If you are not a Christian it's still good. There are many truths regardless of religious beliefs.

Absolutely fantastic book for a father or father figure to read with a boy!! My husband and son take a chapter a week and read and then discuss it and it has opened many good discussions. It includes all thos boy to young man things that are sometimes hard to find ways to talk about. We were so happy with the book that we purchased it for a friend with 2 young boys.

I have been having a great time reading this with my 12 y/o boy
I have been having a great time reading this with my 12 y/o boy. He may not agree, as he finds it a bit uncomfortable, hehe. Very good way of teaching him about puberty, sex and purity, with God being the ultimate creator and the He has made him in an amazing way. I wish my dad had this book when I was 12.

Funny, but religious body aware book for boys.
Good book if you use the bible daily in your education classes.Funny, and informative, but does quote the bible on every page.

Great reference material for anyone raising boys
I think this book is well balanced. I have become fearful of Christian teachings and preachings particularly regarding wet dreams and I've heard many things from preachers that are clearly false. Wet dreams are part of the body's design to regulate sperm production and storage and any pastor preaching that it's of the devil is misleading his flock.
