Essential for Lovers of Film
Ive just watched 2 of the films 'Master of the House' and the later 'Ordet' I am a huge fan of Dreyers and know'Vampyr' 'The Passion of Joan of Arc' and Michael.Ordet is quite frankly a shattering film (in a very good way) I was in floods of tears as it came to its climax. This Box set is worth having for 'Ordet' alone before you even get to any of the other films and the beautiful extras. This had been in my wishlist for a very long time and I am incredibly glad I bought it at long last.Incredibly crisp Black and White cinematography on blu ray for under £30....from the Master of Danish film.An incredible viewing experience.

Fantastic Collection of Dreyer.
I had coveted this for quite a while before finally purchasing, but am mightily impressed by everything about it.I adore all of the films by Dreyer I had collected up until this release but was yet to see Master Of The House, Ordet and Gertrud. Upon doing so I can truthfully declare that I adore all of his work. Ordet, in particular, was a revelation and is now one of my favourite films of all time, along with Dreyer’s The Passion Of Joan Of Arc, among others. Everything about it was beautifully made. The performances by all the cast, the screenplay, art direction, production design, the mood, and lighting. The emotion I felt upon witnessing the climax was overwhelming, akin to a religious experience, which in light of the film’s story is maybe not all that surprising, but I found it highly impressive.I am yet to indulge in all of the wealth of extras included, but if they are even half the quality of what I have already been privy to, I will be more than satisfied.A fantastic release by the BFI, and one that I am eternally grateful for having in my possession.

Glorious restorations of maestro Dryer's body of work --
Glorious restorations of maestro Dryer's body of work, including rare titles unseen these past decades by all but the most devout researchers and archivists. Well-earns a place in the collection of any student of the cinema. I sincerely hope universities and film school libraries will procure multiple copies to help broaden Dyer's influence among the millennial generation. I'm continually (and sadly) surprised by the volume of film student I advise who've had little to no exposure to Dryer's art. Criterion's superb editions of Dryer pale in comparison to this new collection, which sets a lofty standard for compiling a directors' work. Well done BFI!

Highly recommended.
This Blu-ray set of the master's works now available from the British Film Institute is a fine package indeed. I have viewed all of the feature length films on this set, along with all of the short film extra features, and am very impressed by the quality of the restorations. The films themselves are justly famous, and Dreyer's work has long been praised by acclaimed directors and cinephiles, particularly in Europe. The extra features section contains several short films that capture Dreyer's special magic, and are a welcome and wonderful discovery. Highest recommendation.

An Essential Part Of Cinema History!
This was my first introduction to Dreyer- I watched together with Masters of Cinema Passion Joan of Arc and Michael. Dreyer is a supreme artist! These films had a profound impact on me and I was struck by how modern and timeless that they feel - a quality shared by all great art! I have not yet watched the extras and look foward to doing so. The transfers are excellent. This is limited edition set - I advise you not to miss it. Some of cinema's greatest moments!

BFI edition boxset is the one to own for Dreyer fans.
If you wanna have a brief knowledge about the Danish master, and own the best edition of his works at the same time. Buy this BFI boxset with confidence. The best image quality so far, and for the ones who miss Joan D'arc, either Criterion or Moc is fine, as both of them are in top-of-notch state of quality.

Mostly just gushing
This is a fantastic collection. The transfers are strong and many of the films have more information in the frame than previous releases. (Gertrud, for example, is in the right aspect ratio--whereas the Criterion disc framed it incorrectly.) The supplements are fascinating and the films themselves are masterpieces. Thanks, BFI!
