can you taste the rubber?

There is no rubber. It is the texture of the plastic itself, not a rubber coating. There is no taste at all.

I've noticed this from time to time. I find that a little water on a soft cloth (I use a drying towel from my kitchen) does the trick. A mild soap or a combination of warm water and baking soda would probably be okay, but definitely avoid any harsh soaps or rough materials as these could degrade the material. Hope this helps!
