Great language options!
Bought this a while again as a long time manga reader and anime watcher, and was impressed with the language options. You can watch it in English dub, Japanese or Japanese with English subs. As someone learning Japanese this was a great function. On top of that, once you've selected a language, it stays in that language for all the episodes (I've had series before that swapped back to English for each new episode). The case is a large DVD case (not a cardboard cover over several cases), with 5 discs inside, meaning four episodes per disc. The artwork on the cover looks good, and there is a handy episode guide on the inside of the case (hidden under the first DVD), so you don't have to fiddle through discs for your favourite episode.I'm sure most people browsing the series will already be familiar with it, but if you're not then it's similar to other popular mangas like naruto, only it's a lot more action focussed. There are some very cool powers in the series (I still read the manga when it comes out online; the series is definitely worth following all the way!). Sometimes I find that (at least in the anime), Bleach can use comedy at the wrong moments, killing the mood a bit, but that's not a problem in the first series, more so a bit later on.So, whether you're collecting the DVDs of your favourite anime series like me, or this is first introduction to Bleach (or even anime), you'll love the series and be wholly satisfied with the quality of this set.

It's Bleach, it's first season, expect stabbage
Tite Kubo isn't the most subtle mangaka out there and the anime version of his current output Bleach does exactly what you'd expect of it: follow the manga til it can't (don't worry, fillers are few and far between and none are in the first season). And since it's a Tite Kubo work, that means lots of stabbage. Lots and lots.Bleach is the story of a teen (Ichigo Kurasaki) who gains immense powers by accident and travels to protect those around him and... *yawn* ... sorry, nearly fell asleep there. It's not the most original story, but it is well told, with a lot of action and minimal messing about. You won't watch this anime for its story (although there is one, and it gets better), you watch it for the exceptional fight scenes (what do they have against shoulders? Everyone gets stabbed there!) and the basic, but well told, character development, especially from series heroines Orihime and Rukia. The series starts off well, laying out its wares with a simple intro followed by a lot of carnage and the introduction of heroes and villains (and sometimes people who are both). This bare-bones release makes the series start very smoothly, and without many distractions the series benefits from a smoother flow. This release is five discs containing all the episodes and with minimal, but competant, extras. It is a very good place to start Bleach, with the best value for money that the series has at the moment.Five stars for the action, barely 2 for the originality, but a very, very good anime. Highly recommended, especially in this form.

Bleach - a good all-rounder
The first installment of the bleach series starts off at a slower pace to the second, but this time is spent developing the characters and giving you a peek at their background without blatantly giving everything away. The action is mixed with good storylines, fleshed out characters and mixture of both humour and sorrow - the latter is hardly surprising considering the series deals with ghosts and as result death and loss. In my opinion, it is a good general all-rounder and I would say would suit both gender's tastes. It does contain a lot of action but in most cases this is backed up with a story, so even those who aren't action fans may like this. Also it's not packed with fanservice which can sometimes be seen in other titles and might put some people off.I would definitely recommend this to anyone already interested in anime or just starting out as its easy to get to grips with. Also I'd recommend getting this boxset as although the separate volumes are also a good price, this complete series 1 boxset is a bargain - I only wish other anime series would have such good price tags.

Just The Introduction
This is the first volume to the increasingly popular Anime; Bleach.Bleach's success is probabely due to their beautifuly drawn artwork and in-depth characters. The series is very original in terms of plot which draws you into a very richly articulated world. There are quite a few reasons for these pull factors and all of which are good enough for a reasonable anime fan. Although there are some who may not be able to apreciate Bleach, such as my friend.(who doesn't really like anime at all) But if you're willing to give this series a try, I suggest watching the first couple of episodes, otherwise you'll have absolutely no idea what's going on.You shouldn't buy this box set if you have just been introduced to Bleach or Anime. I'd recommend you get this when you know wether or not you like the series. Any decent fantasy enthusiast will enjoy the colourful story and should definately consider purchasing this item. But you must remember that this item is merely the introduction and if you've seen this, there is no way you cannot buy the next volume. Bleach is too entertaining to simply ignore the latter of the series.Hope this helped.
