Great but tricky and incomplete
Really disappointed that a piece was missing. There was no way my 8yr old son could have completed this on his own at least not yet, he can find the parts and locate where they go but to tighten the nuts and bolts sufficiently was not possible. Mind you he loved the set as that didnt bother him.

Grand son's birthday
This was bought for my 7 year old grandson even though it says for eight year olds. The plan was to work with him and it was a delight to see him sorting parts, reading instructions and helping with the build. Took me back to my first set around seventy years ago.

One piece missing
I bought this for my grandson for Christmas. He is into fast cars and has plenty of Lego so I bought this for a change. He was very excited to get it and we started building a model and he soon grasped the concept of building only to find a piece was missing. It was so annoying. I have now ordered the part from meccano spares but really shouldn’t have had to do that.

Missing pieces!!
I am missing vital pieces but have lots of doubles of other parts. Cant return as outside the return window. Total waste of money!

An impressive set full of things to build
It's certainly been a while since I had a Meccano set so it was interesting to try out this Meccano 10-in-1 Racing Vehicles set.The materials seem to be more colourful than I remember though there are less metal parts these days. The instructions are really clear though they're still more complicated than something like Lego, this is for the more mechanically minded. The age rating is 8+ which I think it about right considering some 8 year olds are great with building things, it will really depend on the skills the child has, though. It also takes some patience and manual dexterity to use the tiny bolts, even with the tool included, though that's the same as it always was.The kit is actually really impressive as a whole. It can make 10 different official vehicles (one at a time) but then you can experiment yourself with the parts and come up with something brand new. It's good for both the imagination and learning about basic mechanics and spacial awareness. I really think more girls would benefit from this as much as boys these days.
