Alternative use
I'm not too sure how useful this review will be for people buying this item for its intended purpose as I used it to build a variable voltage DC bench power supply, but I thought I would give my feedback anyway. The unit seems well built and provides the power and current as advertised. The fan is quite noisy, however, I have added a temperature control to it, so it only kicks in when the unit is under stress. The quality of the build and the unit overall seems fine and, for the price, it is excellent value. The DC bench supply I built is an excellent addition to my electronics kit and the build cost me significantly less than buying an off the shelf multi voltage unit. The one I have built can supply + 0 - 30v, - 0 - 25v, +3.3v, + 5v and +12v together with a USB charging point.

A near perfect substitute
This P.S.U. was used to replace a faulty (now obsolete) P.S.U. in a self built P.C. It did not have the second connection for the additional DVD device (but for £1.81 an extender cable form was purchased from Amazon). It did not have the extra connections for a temperature controlled cabinet fan (which had seized) but a fan sourced from Amazon only required a standard motherboard connection. So, all in all this was a really useful substitute with a higher power rating to boot (pardon the pun). It is working well and it was at a really reasonable price too.

NOISY (but read on)
One or two other reviews have mentioned the noise so I bought it in anticipation of doing what I did. (This is a VERY cheap power supply: and how / if it gets 500W at 5/12 V down those wires I have no idea. So I wrote off guarantee before buying.)The fan has a proper header and connector but no apparent thermostatic control. It would have been easy to add one, but would add to the cost. So I just popped it open and went across the 5V circuit. Then ran the PC as intended (it is a media PC, NOT a big gaming rig: I would not dream of this PSU for that purpose, stated 500W or no: see above). Then measured the outgoing air temp (with a meat thermometer, since you ask...). Less than 15F (10C) above ambient. So sealed up, job done, silent. Perfect for my purposes but NOISY unmodded.

Very good power supply
My pc is really old but I put so much money into building it. The power supply failed and I had to buy a new one, this one fitted all the standards I was looking for although it’s on the smaller size it works better than my old power supply. The noise level is almost non existent for me. Very good buy. Thanks to the seller.

You get what you pay for. Chepo INC.
Does it work? yes.But the fan is always at full blast. Is noisy AF.The cheap looks and the tangled wires won't help either. But hey, it's like 10x cheaper than a really good PSU so you can't complain that much about it.I'm returning it, not because is anything wrong with it but the noise is just unbearable.I hope to do better with another not so cheapo PSU, will see. BTW another PC I have with a Corsair 850i (90£ back in the day) is absolutely silent, even when gaming or anything else. You can hear the GPU and The CPU cooler but not even a whisper from the PSU... so, you get what you pay for.

Works good
Fitted into an older computer and it work very well I would recommend for computer that only needs 500w or less.

Revived dead Windows XP desktop
XP computer died. Ordered this power supply, was delivered in 3 days. Swapped PSU with dead one. Put dead PSU in bin. Reconnected power and instantly PC was revived. Very good value for money as of today as still working!. Very good price, would have spent more money on driving to nearest big town and then parking for a day while trying to find a PSU which would probably have cost more than this one!

Very Noisy
This thing is seriously noisy - all the time. I also doubt it gets close to 500W - I put into a system with a max power draw of 465W and the system shut down during a benchmark test - it is unlikely that the system was close to 465W as that assumes that every component is at its max power draw at the some point which is not at all likely - even so this PSU should be able to manage the odd period of 465W if it is rated at 500W and it can't.
