Part of the winter reading challenge was to “read a great book”. Not the greatest but a great book. What is a great book, frankly I don’t know but I can sure tell you there is a lot of “really bad” books out there. I notice that What were once “great “books are now band by the woke people. So “great” what does it mean forever. So I went looking for a great book and I found the great book which I hope counts, “the great Gatsby “. Short, powerful and meaningful. I have read over 125 high school students essays on symbolism in this book. The greatness of the green light says it all.

I liked this edition so much. Includes a few things that makes the book experience a lot better. The only issue I have was that the book arrived a bit damaged. But other than that, a really good edition!

Drama and symbolism and criticism of society. It's perfect for high school and a good read for any of us.

I guess the environment has changed, but I did not find this book (reading a second time after many years) worthy of the high esteem in which it is held.

I read this novel quickly because it had an interesting storyline that intrigued me. The idea of creating a fictitious community of upper crust socialites that have numerous personal issues observed in first person dialog format by protagonist Nick Carraway. His analysis of the wealthy Jay Gatsby's amorous pursuit of uppity socialite Daisy Buchanan who was pursued by other suiters seems to draw the reader towards the hope of a satisfactory conclusion. It is analogous to the relationship of Lady Brett Ashley and Jake Barnes in The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway. My personal disappointment came with the ending of the story which dealt with Jay in an awkward finale. It seemed disjointed and needed better closure in my opinion.

Nothing more than an average to below average book to me…

Great book, great read.

The extract about the movie was helpful, but I got this book to use for my English class and annotating was simply not possible. The book is quite small so are the font and there are no margins to write anything in. Plus the paper is quite thin so highlighters end up bleeding through. Nice book don’t get as a student tho.

Edição com páginas razoaveis, boas de ler, distanciamento entrelinhas e de fácil leitura. Papel mais escuro. Livro que também recomendo pra leitores intermediários de inglês.
