YogaAccessories Extra Heavy Recycled Mexican Blanket (Colors May Vary)

When I looked at the reviews to buy this blanket everyone said it smelled really bad, so I was bracing myself when I received it. But it really didn't smell bad. It had a similar smell to any other mexican blanket I've ever purchased, a little agricultural. And the smell washed out fine after one wash. The blanket is nice and heavy, but still fluffy and soft. I can roll it up and it works as a good supportive bolster, or I can rest it over me in savasana to keep warm. And it is a really pretty plaid...I was worried at first about not being able to chose my color, but I wasn't disappointed.

I ordered from this seller years ago and loved how thick the blankets were. Perfect for winter. Just had one delivered today and it was GARBAGE! So thin, SOOO not worth the money!!!

I received a similar blanket as a gift and love it. I searched for another one as an early birthday gift for my son, so he would stop borrowing mine and am so pleased to have discovered it on Amazon. I was a little concerned because I wasn't able to select a color, however, we received a beautiful blue/aqua/black blanket, that my son absolutely loves. Other reviews said the blanket had a strong odor. Our blanket had NO odor/scent at all. Its soft and lush. I'm washing it now and will post an update as to how it withstands the wash and dry.UPDATE 4/9/15:Its been several months since our purchase and the blanket is still holding up and going strong. My son still uses it as his go to blanket and with the cold winter we had, he appreciated it. Again, there never was any odor or smell to the blanket, but we did have major issues with shedding. The blanket shed terribly. It took 5 washings before we could place it on my son's bed. I purchased a recycled blanket to benefit our environment. Having to use that much water and electricity in order to use it almost outweighed the benefit. I'm lower the rating from 5 to 3 stars, because of that. The blanket is great and serves its purpose, so I really want to give it a 5, but just can't!

This blanket is thick and soft has beautiful coloring and is nice and large sized.....exactly what i was looking for and am glad i purchased it. I will definately purchase more! Although I absolutely loved it, it does have a very strong smell to it....kind of like a gas smell to it....maybe because of being in transit in the trucks, I don't know. We had to really air it out and we put it in the dryer with dryer sheets and it did help but you can still smell it pretty strong and it really mnade the dryer smell afterwards too. We'll be taking it to have it dry cleaned and maybe that will help. Just wanted you to be aware of this. Otherwise it is a beautiful blanket & we loved that it was made from recycled materials, although we'd like to know from what recycled materials the blanket was made from? (Made from 100% recycled fibers) as described on the Amazon page. I didn't mind not knowing which color we'd get, anything was fine. Due to other comments about washing it in the washer because of the smell-we won't be doing that(thank you folks for the heads up!) we'll be bringing it to be dry cleaned and maybe that will help the smell.

I bought this blanket at a shop on the beach in New Jersey years ago. I've never used it as a Yoga Blanket. I use it as a padding blanket when camping in cold weather. It goes between the sheet and the air bed. It provides EXCELLENT warmth for sleeping out in the cold weather. I never realized when I bought it it was considered a yoga blanket. But, it works great as a picnic blanket as well, which I've used it for that. I've been looking to purchase a couple more just like it so I'm thrilled I was able to find an amazon retailer that is selling the exact same blanket.The blanket is thick (or heavy) and covers about 2/3 of a King size air bed and easily covers all of a twin size air bed. It folds up well, but doesn't fold up very flat, given that it's thick.I'm surprised to read other reviews about a smell. Even when I bought this blanket new it never smelled or at least I don't recall a smell. I've had it so long though that any smell that might have been in it is definitely long gone.Update: I received my blankets from my latest purchase. They do not smell at all. They also don't look exactly like the photo. Both the front and back are in the reverse side pattern. which isn't so much a plaid, but more a series of stripes with a couple of cross stripes. The colors are like the photo, just the pattern is different. Otherwise, the blankets are just like the one purchase years ago in New Jersey.

These blankets are similar to the Mexican blankets of late 70's and early 80's you would find in Mexico, but these have more synthetics than I remember. There is a + & a - with that. The old school blankets really weren't as plush as these because of the high cotton content, but then those would not generate as much static either. For the price compared to going to Mexico and try to find this in its original form is not cheap, unless you have connections. These are not perfect, but they will do. Having said that, I happy with my purchase.

26 years ago I went to San Antonio to visit a friend - we went to the Mexican Market there - I bought a thick Mexican blanket and since I was flying home - only bought one. That blanket is finally showing some wear - and I have been searching for the last 5 years for another one. Friends tried to help me out - but only found the thin Mexican blankets that everyone seems to carry. FINALLY!!! This blanket is identical to the one I purchased in thickness and material. While the one I bought was blue on one side and yellow on the other - this one is a much more subdued brown. This is such a great blanket for watching TV when the room is cool - or for traveling or any time you need a bit of extra warmth. I am just THRILLED that the search is over! Will certainly buy another!!
