Terrible product
The lamp caught fire and the glass broke on the second use. DANGEROUS and ineffective product.

Fire maple lantern…ok
Not very bright about that of a large candle. Yellow flame only 40/50 mm long max usable. Nice ambience but will not light a whole campsite. Quality of item is ok not amazing but as long as the glass doesn’t break it should last. Cleaning needles are almost invisible and once dropped forget about finding them. Not very practical having to clean them out bush so I’d do that before every use at home.

Useful for draining IsoPro gas canisters before puncture and recycle
So only 4 stars because this is something one might consider a 'frill' rather than 'truly useful'. IsoPro gas canisters become no longer useful for cooking/boiling "early"; that is, at some point the canister gets set aside for a full one from worry it will 'run out' during the backpacking or camping trip. Even if the canister is used until the IsoPro stove no longer gives adequate flame, there will still be gas in the canister. These gas lanterns provides essentially a candle-light or old fashioned gas-light flame, not the brilliance of an incendiary mantle lantern - that is, it's dim. This specific model is arguably better designed and works better for ignition and control.Such gas-candle lights do provide a "mood" in the night at the picnic table. Some may find using this gives some sense of "the campfire" when open campfires are prohibited. But for backpack-campers this represents extra weight, a luxury item that is a bit fragile, and that 'wastes' fuel. For them, bringing an otherwise 'empty' IsoPro canister along with a gas-candle light for mood adds even more weight. Yet there are romantics for whom this may set a romantic mood in the night when camping. Just don't use it in your tent - maybe stick to those flickering warm-white LED tea candles.A perhaps more practical appliance to use with almost empty canisters is the Thermacell Backpacking Mosquito Appliance, which uses a small contained flame to heat a mosquito repellent pad. This isn't romantic, but does a useful job, either sipping fuel or helping to completely empty a low IsoPro canister.

Nice little lantern
This lantern is well made. The glass is heavy and the slot for lighting is a nice touch. The metal parts are all well made. Keep in mind a lantern of this type will not be the brightest but throws light like a candle or a small oil lamp. The case is durable, but rattles enough that I kept the bubble pack that came in the package to protect the lantern a little better.

Missing piece
The lantern works as expected. Provides a fair amount of light in a small package. Mine was missing the cleaning needle.
