Did great on a 2000 mile road trip this summer
Bought this to install on our minivan for a big road trip. This installed nice and flat on the top of the van and strapped to the top rails very easily. I checked the straps at every stop and they never loosened. Neither the bag nor its contents shifted at all. I was able to easily fit (2) 21” roller suitcases, (4) carry-on sized roller suitcases, and still have room for (2) more carry-on square footage of miscellaneous items (tackle box, fishing poles, swim gear, etc.) The flexibility of the material made it great for packing what I needed. The zipper extensions made closing the odd shape of the suitcases quite easy.It did rain while the car was parked and while driving at various times. This carrier was completely impermeable. Nothing inside got wet at all. Everything held up well over the course of this trip (I got the suitcases in and out 4 times during the trip) and it seems this carrier will last for many future road trips. The one thing that was difficult (especially with a minivan) was that I couldn’t’ strap the carrier down until it was fully packed and closed. I’d like to be able to pre-install the front straps before I load up. Also, tightening the straps once they’re connected was sometimes difficult. But I got used to everything by the end, and the straps held up great.

Very durable
This car top carrier was awesome. Used it for our trip from WNY to the OuterBanks. Straps stayed tight the whole way, kept everything dry even though a torrential rain storm. We couldn't attach it to our roof rails as they are flush, so we used the included straps for the door frame mount, they worked great. It worked great for us on our Hyundai Tucson.

Good product for the price.
This is excellent for the price. It is very durable, and is indeed water proof. We have a Ford Flex, and I bought this product for our Tennessee trip. We live in southeast Georgia, so it is was about a 280 mile trip. It handled well through the duration of the trip, but there were some takeaways ie lessons learned. It is loud. You can definitely hear it up there. Not a big issue, and you do get used to it, but can be annoying. The biggest takeaway, it is a pain to load. You have to figure out the best way to load bags onto the roof to help balance it out on the roof for aerodynamic purposes. Then there comes the zipping it up and strapping it down. That can be a pain especially the first time you do it. The first time I loaded it, it was about a hour. The times after that probably around 45 minutes. It is not a fast process. If you are on a road trip, this has to be factored into your morning routine. The final takeaway. It is not a secure bag. It is easy to break into. So you will not want to leave your stuff in it over night. You run the risk of loosing your valuables. Overall though for my needs it was a good purchase. Like I said it is a durable effective product. Especially for the price. Hopefully my review will help anyone who reads it make an informed decision.

This was great for a cross country move
I bought this because I was moving across the country and needed to be able to bring as much with me as I could. This added a huge amount of storage space. It was basically like adding a second trunk onto the car and this was the largest and cheapest option compared to other over car storages. For reference, it was able to fit two ikea under bed storages in it (one in the front, one in the back) with a fair gap between them, and room for more things on top. I don't think it would have quite handled two ikea storages stacked on top. This was easy to install on my 3rd gen 4runner, which required running it through the weather stripping, but it did still take a little time to do. I'd recommend getting the lower straps secured in the weather stripping, then shutting the doors so you can get the top piece of the strap clicked in and tightened without undoing the weather stripping. The unit handled a 4/5 day drive at 70-80mph very well, loaded with mostly clothes, blankets, linens, etc. On one day that it rained, it did leak a little into the car through one of the straps, which is going to happen if you run it through the weather stripping. There is a way to lock the zippers with a luggage lock but if someone really wanted to steal it, they could easily cut the straps. Depending on how much/what you put in the storage it could be a bit of a hassle to unload it ang take it down every night you are making stops. If you don't want to take it off the car, don't store anything irreplaceable in it of course.I will note that the sunroof on my car hasn't been working since I unmounted the storage BUT I don't know that it was working before (and the car is 21 years old so it could have just given up) - I would just caution that if you do mount this over a sunroof that you be cognizant that putting a lot of weight on the sunroof could damage it.

Working great so far
We got this to add storage to the car for camping trips. So far, it has worked great.Easy to install, easy to fill and unload. It is not a hardshell like the photo looks but rather like a large duffel bag. We were amazed at how much we could fit in there. No signs of wear on high speed highways so far.

Seemed like quality carrier, but ripped in 2 places the first time we ever used it
The straps were a little difficult to adjust when needing to tighten them down to secure everything to the roof. The first time we used it was on a 400 mile trip. The waterproof flap that covers the zippers ripped on the trip TO our destination. The bag itself developed a hole/rip on the trip back from our destination.I've been looking at hard shell carriers for my next purchse because I'll have to purchase another one now that this one is no longer usable.
