They hold up skewers.
Ok, not sure what Hercules was doing to tip these over, on a boat? Earthquake simulation?I have put these through the over 6 times. 6 skewers from 12 to l6 inches long. Check, beef, all the vegetables, hell the biggest issue is bbq sauce will scorch on them and you have to soak them to get it off easy. They are easy clean (recommend hand washing and soaking after use to loosen up the baked on crud)Otherwise, they hold skewers off the rack about where you would want them.

A must have for Kabobs!
Keeping the kabob skewers off the grill grate is a game changer. No more sticking and losing some of the kabob items. The only improvement I would make is to have the notches a little further apart to keep the skewers from touching each other and allow the flames to cook between them.

An Easier Alternative
These skewers came in a nice zippered carrying case, which you might want to keep but I threw away because I felt that putting the washed skewers back in it would get the skewers dirty and they would need to be rewashed before the next use. I just put them in a utensil drawer in my kitchen.Although advertised as 14" (which is the total length of these skewers), the usable portion for adding food is about 9 1/4" which is a tad shorter than our old single skewers. In order to get the full usable length of the prongs, you need to be sure that you have moved the slider (the thing that pushes off the food) all the way to the top of the skewer. In addition, the prongs are twice as wide as a regular single skewer so they will grip food better but could split too-thin slices of food. For our first use of the skewers, we used a marinade of 1/2 soy sauce and 1/2 Worcestershire sauce to soak our ingredients (best if soaked overnight). Our ingredients were cubes of two boneless skinless chicken breasts, about 8 ounces of whole smaller white mushrooms, slices of two medium zucchini and an onion and a bell pepper, and halves of about six mini sweet peppers. All of this food for two-four people fit onto the six prongs of the two skewers, but it was a bit crowded together and some of the thicker ingredients like the onions and zucchini needed to be thinner in order to be cooked all the way. One of the drawbacks of these skewers is that the food really doesn't have as many sides exposed to the flames (because crowded together) and so the food does not cook through as quickly.I don't remember seeing any instructions on the use of the skewers. While you are grilling, the skewers will become very, very hot, so be sure to use a pot holder when turning them by the grips on the top of the skewer. Also, your hand will need protection when you squeeze both sides of the slider, which is the action that lets you release the slider to move the cooked food down and off the prongs. It took us a little while to figure that squeezing motion out. A folded paper towel works to wrap around the slider to protect your hand from the heat while you squeeze both sides of the slider. But the real benefit of this product is that it makes turning the food on the hot skewers that are on the hot grill so VERY much easier than doing many single skewers. We are looking forward to grilling shrimp next.
