Worth every penny, but keep it clean.
It's the same knife you see advertised all over FB only less money. If you're new to knives, don't buy this. It's as sharp as a razor blade. You might hurt yourself. And don't use it with large arm movements. If you make a .mistake you might be missing a wing and not a chicken wing. Great knife!

Good honest knife.
Good basic cooking knife. Great for slicing beef and cleaning large fish. It takes a crazy sharp edge just using Lansky ceramic cross sticks. Good fit and finish. Workable sheet.

This knife is a chef best friend. It has nice way of dicing the way you can rock it off the tip of the knife. Put a carrots or cucumber in the middle of the knife rock it back and forth moving your veggies. Manifique

This is a beautiful fillet knife that might require some extra TLC for use. First off, it comes in a nice box with a leather sheath. The metal of the knife was in a plastic pocket with a hard plastic at the tip to avoid accidental cutting. It comes with a user manual that is mostly English, but the maintenance and warning text are in English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. The manual lists various types of kitchen knives offered by the brand and this one is labeled as 6.3" Forged Fishing Fillet Knife, so if you have other specific types of knives you need, you can check the list and find what this brand has to offer. You can refer to photo 1 to see a size comparison of the knife next to a credit card sized transportation card. Although it is stated to as a "German Stainless Steel Blade", the knife is actually made in China. It feels heavier than regular kitchen knives you might be using, but feels balanced. I am not very fond of the black painted areas of the knife, I would prefer an all metal design with no paint but the paint might help with the life time of the blade. This seems like a good point to talk about the TLC required. The instructions in the manual gives you an idea of how to sharpen it using a sharpening rod or a whetstone. Sharpening is probably one of the routine maintenance that you might need to do. You will probably want to use it on a wooden cutting board with the knife. The maintenance instructions also mention regularly applying cooking oil to the knife surface. In fact, out of the box (and of the plastic pocket) the blade comes lubricated. While this is probably to keep the blade rust-free, it is curious that this blade is presented as "German Stainless Steel" and the manual has instructions on what to do if the knife becomes rusty. I did not see any information about dishwasher use, but having a nice wooden handle, I think it is better to clean it manually. Overall, it is a beautiful and functional knife to have. You might have to do some extra maintenance steps to take care of it properly. The price tag of $66 CAD at the time of writing is definitely not cheap, but the nice itself is not designed to be a cheap knife either. If you do a lot of meal preparation, this will probably be nice to add to your kitchen arsenal.

The knife arrived in its box wrapped in a heavy protective shrink wrap. Once the wrapping was removed the good quality box opened to reveal an attractive looking knife. I did find it interesting that the box says “Kitchen Knife”, but the description given in the listing title is “Fillet/Fishing/Camping/Hunting Knife”. When in the holster it does look the part for out doors use rather than kitchen use, so it does send conflicting messages. I found the holster style sheath is a little awkward for kitchen use, as the tab to lock it in gets in the way of the blade as you pull it out. I do see how this tab is a good feature if you were to use it camping, and the holster does allow you to hold it on your belt. When I first pulled it from its holster it had a protective plastic covering that was easy to remove, and also had an extra level of protection at the tip, again this was easy to remove. I do like the general appearance of the blade, the dark surface with the hand hammered look is attractive. With that said it does not come across as high end, but rather appears more mid range (and the price reflects this). From a performance perspective it was as sharp as I would expect for this type of knife. I shot a very short video of it cutting a fairly firm tomato, and it did so very cleanly without leaving any rough cut on the skin. The video also shows my back cutting in to the outer skin of a rather over ripe pomegranate. It did a fairly good job here, and only caught the skin once – something that is not on common when back cutting. I did find the handle a little off for my average sized hands, with the fingers not sitting well in the indents provided. I also found the knife didn’t have the same feeling of being ‘balanced’ as some of the higher end knifes I have used. With these two comments I still didn’t find it uncomfortable, just not the perfect knife for me. Time will tell how well it holds its edge, and how well it sharpens, but there was nothing that left me worried that it won’t perform well over time. Overall verdict? Looks cool, packaged well, could make a nice gift. I recommend this product.
