This machine is great but remember it is small.
I'd been down a YouTube rabbit hole watching CNC videos so I knew how these machines worked in theory. So long as you understand that this machine is small and designed for engraving you will be very satisfied.Working with hardwood has been a blast. Making small signs works great and I had been able to surface my material with a 1 inch surfacing bit without problems. Milling small items such as a ring box can take some time so making sure your g code is efficient will help. While working with hardwood (beech) I have found that a 1mm depth of cut produces a very clean finish without chatter. Personally I have been using 1/4 inch end mills with a cheap collet I purchased from amazon. The machine is very accurate and works great with very minimal setup. The most important feature of a CNC machine is rigidity. This is the reason I passed on all of the previous 3018 CNC's.This 3020 pro max is a much better design with much better components, and simply the best CNC engraving machine of its size available. This one is worth your money. I am very satisfied.

This is a great desktop CNC machine
This is a first class CNC milling machine. I am a professional library maker. I've taken on a commission to make a model of 11c abbey. I am used to CAD design and solid modelling. when it came to this model I made the decision to machine these small parts on CNC. I looked at a lots of machines but was taken by this one and kept coming back to it due to the solid construction and the good reviews. I ordered it in the late afternoon and it arrived the next day. With a forwarded code that I needed to give the driver. This I found reassuring on a high valued item. I watched some You Tube clip on construction. however the Genmitsu handbook is excellent well illustrated in colour with detailed cad models and pictures. I had it constructed and working by the evening, great fun. I then needed to get down to the serious work of learning how these machines work. If your new to this then you need to be patient during the learning. There are lots of good You Tube vids on this.I don't usually write reviews on Amazon I just do not have the time. I had a small issue and contacted the seller. As we all no doubt feel some trepidation that your not going to get anywhere. I could not be more wrong. I was emailed right back the next day by Jamie. He resolved the issue and followed up to make sure that everything was working. He gave me complete reassurance. That to me means a great deal in today world. I am cutting 36 windows in ebony with .8mm cutters for the glazing bars and trifoil window frames in cedar of Lebanon representing sandstone. I am delighted, Getting my head around gcode is not easy but once to you have a grasp then you can build from there. My work is a little specialised and complex. but for lettering and stock carving there are many programmes and images you can learn by. I will post some pictures of this work when I have it completed. Most of all I wanted to thank Jamie for his first class service and following through to make sure all was running well. I have not received anything for this review. This is a genuine reflection of my experience with this CNC machine and the seller.Bernard Allen

Sturdy and well built
I have a much larger CNC already, but wanted a much smaller desktop machine for prototyping and small production runs of small parts.Assembly is easy as long as you follow the guide. If in doubt check YouTube for the various assembly reviews. Note that the latest revisions no longer need the nuts for the gantry as screw hole have been machined directly into the base extrusions making assembly much easier. It took me about 20-30 minutes.Wiring things up is simple, if you can follow simple instructions from a well-presented colour user guide. Once assembled the machine worked first time.I’m using UGS as the G-Code software rather than the one on the included USB stick. UGS is free and there are lots of YouTube videos to support you.Keeping things in perspective relative to the price, this is an excellent machine and very sturdy. It gets 4 starts rather than 5 because the first machine I received was defective. Sainsmart tech support were quick to respond to every messages I sent, but ultimately we agreed I should return the faulty machine and get a replacement. The original machine had a significantly bent X axis lead screw which meant the router didn’t always move smoothly as well as some issue with the bed that is hard to describe. It’s fair to assume the first machine took a heavy knock during shipping as the second machine runs perfectly.Would I recommend this machine? Yes. If you are new to CNC then there is going to be a bit of a learning curve, but there are many excellent resources on YouTube so there is no excuse! In terms of how loud or quiet this machine is, I measured 67db at 1m (3 feet) while cutting hard maple. That’s not too bad, especially if you plan on building a cover for it.

Great value milling.
Pleased with it so far. Perfect for pcb milling. Surprisingly accurate too. Bit of a bargain!

Compact size and very well built
I bought this CNC machine for a very specific task of cutting a complicated hole in an ABS enclosure. It arrived very well packaged and after taking it from the hands of the courier, unboxing, to fully assembled and ready to go, took just under an hour. The clear and uncomplicated instructions are easy to follow. Learning the Software and the terminology associated with this new hobby Is probably ( for me ) the biggest challenge… what the heck was a endmill single flute ? The free 90 day trial of Carveco s/w is a great companion too - and I was initially unaware of this offer. Then disaster ( I thought ) … it’s broken ! - nope, I’d inadvertently pressed the emergency stop - and hadn’t realised that it stays “pressed in” until reset. Hat’s off to the folks at Genmitsu , they were very helpful, usually answering my email queries the next day. For me this machine is an almost a perfect match to the tasks I have for it, and worth every penny. I’m adding a laser too so I’ve built an box for it.
