A terrific product. The saffron itself is exactly as advertised.
I have previously bought saffron on an as-needed basis from a local source. Spanish saffron costs about $6-$7/g, and Persian/Iranian saffron is about $1/g more expensive. More recently, I bought a 2 g tin of Spanish saffron through Amazon for about $5/g. That product was equivalent to what I used to buy locally, but obviously a better value. I thought that would try this Lidoma saffron as well, and I am very glad that I did. When comparing the two side-by-side, you certainly can tell which is which. The Spanish saffron is certainly not "All Red", but contains yellow-orange threads as well. From a flavor perspective, both make a wonderful paella, and I suspect as was true of the Spanish product, this Persian saffron will also be outstanding in risotto and fish stews. When I bought it, it was selling for about $4.50/g. Since it has a long shelf life, and I use saffron with increasing frequency, I was very pleased to get a saffron of this quality at this price. Indeed, I will look and see whether 10 g or larger containers are available, and what the per gram price is. You will end up saving money in the longer-term.

And I though you could only get good saffron from Spain. I used a lot less than usual to get the job done!
I made a paella today to feed six people. I thought I was going to need about 1 gram of saffron, but after dropping just three strands into the hot water, and seeing how much color change there was I cut that amount in half. When all was said and done, that may have been just a wee bit too much still. I have used a lot of saffron in my day, as I use it to make Easter bread and paella, but wow this stuff was very flavorful. I have to be honest, I was really worried about the stuff coming from Persia. I had it in my mind that you could only get good saffron from Spain. So, when I was in Barcelona I bough about 15 grams of saffron to bring back home to share with my mother and it was amazing. But this stuff is better. I think this three gram tin is going to last me at least six months. I would buy this again in a heart beat and if it were on sale I would buy two!

Great saffron at very competitive price!!
I buy about 30-40 grams of saffron every year and am on the lookout for a quality saffron all the time. For the last 10 years or so, Costco online was my favorite place for premium quality saffron at a very competitive price. I have tried a number of online merchants but nothing came close to what costco offered in terms of quality and of course, the price. Few months ago I found a new seller of Iranian saffron on Amazon named Zaran Saffron, who pretty much matched the gold standard of the Costco saffron. Now, Lidoma saffron is in the same league, however, I still would rate the former two a little above Lidoma. It smells wonderful, color rating seems like its up there in the 'premium - 250+' club. I did see very few yellow threads in Lidoma. If they maintain this price Lidoma would be my first choice for future purchases based on price to quality ratio and value for the money. It would be very nice, if the sellers offered multiple size options like, 1,2,5, 10 g, 0.5 oz and 1 oz quantities.

Very Nice aroma
I was excited to try Saffron so I went ahead and ordered this one, I wanted to try two different recipes one was a simple Saffron rice and the other was Golden Milk with Saffron. Since I needed to make a side dish for dinner I went with the Saffron rice- It was amazing- I loved the earthy, sweet smell of the saffron while cooking the dish and it really did make a nice side dish to compliment my meal. My son ate two helping of it actually!I plan on trying to incorporate this Saffron in to more cooking since I have been reading up on the benefits of Saffron- this brand is very nice- it is a beautiful red color and the threads are all intact. The tin that the Saffron comes in is also nice and looks nice on the counter to be honest.

Many Good Reviews on this Product
I only just received the Lidoma Saffron a day or two ago. I have never used saffron in my cooking, even though some recipes called for it. It was too expensive for my budget, so my dish was always sans this spice. But while looking through a new cookbook, there were several recipes that sounded so mouth watering and they were calling for saffron, so I went ahead and ordered. I read the reviews on this product, and most of them were quite satisfied, so I made my choice. Thus far, I have only "reheated" a recipe I made without it, and added a strand or two, not too much. I couldn't really tell a difference, but I'm convinced that when I add this spice from the get go, it will truly make a change in the color and taste of the dish.

excellent quality
I have occasionally seen small tubes of saffron in supermarkets. Priced at 5 or 6 dollars, they contained a few 'tired' threads of saffron. I never bought one. It did not make sense. I have had paella in restaurants, and have used saffron-like substitutes. What a revelation to use the real thing! There was enough spice in this tin to make three large pots of paella (each serving 8-10 people). I could have easily stretched it to make more, yet with this amount there was a rich, yet subtle flavor. Something I never I never experienced in Spanish restaurants; or for that matter, in Spain. Give it a try.

Very decent quality for saffron found in USA.
Relatively high quality; it's quite dry which is one of the things to look for; produces a nice, even yellow color when introduced to cold water(see pic); no metallic taste, very earthy and floral. All in all I'm quite happy with the quality of this stuff; it'd be hard to find a better deal for the quality in the USA.I love making tea with this stuff. Put it in some green tea to give it an alternate quality, super healthy, great stuff!

Less aroma, but price probably makes it worth it
Good once initially opened, very aromatic. Seemed to lose its aroma over a period of a few months though in a way supermarket saffron doesn't so much (for me at least!). It could be down to storage; I kept it in the tin it came in in the pantry - maybe wrapping foil/plastic around the tin would help? When I've used supermarket saffron it's come in a plastic envelope tucked inside a glass jar so maybe that helps it keep its aroma.Anyway, as time went on I just added a little more to recipes and it seemed ok. For the price I'd say it's worth it - even if you do need to use a little more of it it's still cheaper than any saffron in our supermarket.
