Excellent for cats
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I have multiple cats and every day their water has changed out when I give them this vetradent It’s excellent stuff, but it makes my cats every single one of them thirsty. They’re at the bowl grabbing tons of water but when I took one of my cats who’s 19yrs old to a wellness check, they were amazed at how great his teeth looked and what great shape he is inHighly recommend using it .

Cat's Bad Breath Problem - SOLVED!
This has solved a lifetime long problem for one of our cats, and he's 16! He's always had terrible breath. We take him for regular dentals, he's had a couple extractions, he has some tartar, which they scrape off, but even after his appointments, his breath was unbelievably bad. And he loves to sit on our chests and "kiss" us! :-{ We talked to a vet tech at our clinic, and she mention that there are pet dental products approved by VOHC (Vet Oral Health Council) that are designed to control tartar. This is one of those products, and since the day we started using it (it dilutes in water, which we mix up in a plastic soda bottle), his breath has been great! It's like we have a new cat. Bonus: He seems more energetic than he's been in at least a couple of years. It could be his toxic smelling tartar was poisoning him, as well.

Negative impact on my dog.
I would give this product a zero if I could. After my dog had 16 teeth extracted, I had asked the veterinarian what I could use to protect his remaining teeth. I had already tried brushing years ago and did not go well. He told me to go to the website for approved products to pick something. So that is what I did. After giving my dog this product in his water for two days I noticed he was very sluggish and by the third day he was not eating. so, I stopped the product in his water and within two days he is back to normal, activity wise and once again eating. So, for me this was a total waste of money and caused a negative impact on my dogs health.

Slimy but worth it
My vet recommended this for my 17 year old cat with dental disease. She can’t go under so this is the only thing we can do to prevent any other illness.I gave it a 3 star review because:1. My cat did drink it!2. It made her breath smell so much better3. My vet said she had been using this on her own cats for decadesHowever, it did have some problems.I give her water through a fountain. Don’t put this in a fountain! I’m going to have to figure something out for this product. The fountain got insanely slimy after only 2 days of very minimal use. The white gunk is after 2 days. I went on vacation, cleaned it before I left, and when I got back 4 days later, there was pink bacteria ALL OVER IT. The slime allowed the water to be more habitable to bacteria and my cat has stopped drinking out of this fountain after one day of fresh water. She gets more water in it daily but with the product I’ve been replacing it ever other day or so just so we don’t run through the product too fast by tossing it down the sink. But never in my life have I seen the fountain grow pink gunk. Ever. And we’re talking 17 years here.Absolutely use this product but be warned for fountain users. It may be good to have a fountain of fresh water with no vetradent and then a bowl with it. Overall it’s worth it for her health but you have to keep on top of water changes.Disclaimer: my cat has multiple water fountains and access to fresh water daily! This is the only fountain I’ve been using vetradent for to see how it would go.

Our dog drinks it with no issues.
So far so good. The dog is okay with it and so are his teeth.
