The Art of SEO 2nd Edition

I have read the first couple hundred pages of this book. They do a FANTASTIC job of explaining all the facets of SEO. Honestly, I've been a pupil of SEO for a few years now and it was nice to get a more formal interview of the basics. They also presented me with several angles I'd never thought of. These angles have already increased my traffic.Honestly, I see there are some complaints about the book. I can see it is a big long.... But honestly, that is a bad complaint. I do STRONG advise buying this! And have told several of my friends to pick up copies. Here's why... You will find simple ways to increase traffic in just the first few pages.If you feel it's too long... Then simple read as much as you can absorb and then try what he teaches. I guarantee you'll get a return on your investment using this book... I personally LOVE IT.

The Art of SEO is a very well written book with comprehensive coverage of most everything an SEO practitioner needs to know. Those who are looking for an easy introduction to SEO may be disappointed since it's not a quick read. There are numerous introductory books available if this is your goal. That said, if your website operates in a competitive space, quick fixes are not realistic. Time, effort and a comprehensive plan are what's needed. Get this book when you're ready to roll up your sleeves and do SEO right.... either that or pay somebody to do the job for you. At the time of this review, July 2012, there is no better book available for the serious SEO practitioner.

This book is a comprehensive overview of SEO, it covers a wide variety of SEO topics, the new edition now touches on social media. It is less piratical than i would like however, i was looking for more actionable information rather than a primer on everything there is to know about SEO. I see this book as more of a prerequisite to in-depth actionable SEO techniques. If you want a though understanding of SEO theory this book will give it to you, but if your looking for immediate and actionable techniques this book will most likely not be what you are looking for. Its not that there is not ANY actionable information in this book, its just that the actionable tips are buried inside an exhaustive explanation of SEO theory. If you want to be an SEO expert, definitely get this book, if your just some guy who wants to improve rankings, there are other options out there, try distilled U.Pros: Very in depth, Written by leading experts in SEO,Cons: Less Actionable more theoretical.

Advanced or Newbie, if you are serious about SEO, then this is the right book for you. Look no further, honestly I have bought so many SEO books, several of them disappointed me. This book has all you need to know. It has lots of information, very well written and well explained.

I am a co-founder of a fiancial services website and wanted an introductory book on SEO. I was only familar with Adwords at the time. I wanted a book to provide me with a foundation of knowledge of all of the basic concepts of SEO and how to further expand my study. Not too technical that I couldn't understand it, but not too simple that would provide no value. I also did not want a book which sugar-coated the ease and effectiveness of SEO. This book delieved. I highly recommend to anyone beginning their exploration of SEO to buy and read this book. I plan on reading the book a second time, to take extensive notes to reference for further study.

The best SEO book I have ever read, and I think I have probable read about ten now. This is the textbook all SEO/SEM books are most likely written from. Enjoy it, it's a great investment.

The four authors did a great job in the scope of the subject matter in this book. The publisher did a great job with The Table of Contents, Glossary and Index as all are comprehensive.This book should have a 5-star rating. However, the publisher provides page after page of screen captures that are not legible! I paid $45.36, including sales tax, for this book and should return it, based upon the very poor reproduction of the many screen captures. However, I'll retain it, based upon the excellence of material provided by the four authors.The staff at O'Reilly Media produced a quality book with good typography, cover design, paper stocks and perfect binding. This leads me to be completely baffled by their complete disregard of the terrible quality of the screen captures throughout the book.This book is worth purchasing. But be forewarned, as you may be as frustrated as I am, about the terrible reproduction of every screen capture throughout the book.

An excellent book that covers each area of SEO in detail. It provides a lot of background information on how search works. It's very well researched and the information is upto date. I found it a really easy read and found it hard to put down.
