SITKA Traverse Hoodie - Breathable Heavyweight Camo Fleece Mens Sweatshirt, Optifade Subalpine, 2XL

If you hunt, you know Sitka is top-tier gear, and this Traverse Hoody lives up to the hype. I ordered the XX-Large in, and the fit is perfect for layering, snug enough to not be bulky under a vest, but roomy enough for comfortable movement. The fabric is amazing: lightweight, quiet, slightly stretchy, and the fleece interior is incredibly comfortable. It wicks sweat away effectively when I'm hiking in, and the built-in face mask in the hood is a total game-changer for those chilly mornings in the stand, saving me from carrying an extra piece of gear. It works great in the cold. The Optifade pattern is, as expected, superb at breaking up my silhouette in the woods. This is an essential piece of my hunting kit now.

This is a fantastic jacket. The material is a little bit on the scratchy side, but I would imagine most people would wear long sleeve thermal underneath it. Even if you didn’t, and you just wore a traditional T-shirt, this jacket holds a really decent amount of heat, but there are two different material materials on the interior of the arm - one that is a strip that runs down that is probably intended for breathability. The thumb loops are fantastic, especially if you are wearing gloves and don’t want leafs getting in. It’s definitely a little bit more lightweight than I anticipated, and the facemask is very thin (like, nylons a woman wears on her legs thin). I definitely wouldn’t say it’s XXL, probably closer to XL, so I would advise ordering a size up. I did test running some water on it and initially from the sink it kind of slid right off, but after a few seconds, it did absorb a little bit of moisture… so I would definitely say it’s water resistant, but definitely not waterproof.

The Optifade Subalpine pattern is perfect for western timber and mixed brush and it blends insanely well in the field. The material is warm, quiet and super comfortable without feeling bulky and you can layer under it very easily. XX Large fits true and gives enough room for base layers without restriction. The hood stays put and does not block peripheral vision while glassing or moving. This quickly became one of my favorite mid layers for all season hunts and scouting. Worth the money!!!

This Traverse hoody is an excellent piece of gear. The Optifade Subalpine pattern blends in perfectly. It's very quiet, which is critical for hunting, and the material has a nice stretch to it, so it doesn't bind when I'm drawing or moving. I've been using it as a mid-layer on colder mornings, and it provides a good amount of warmth without being bulky. The hood fits well, and the overall construction is exactly the high quality I expect from SITKA. It's a very comfortable and functional hoody for my hunts. Overall, a good value for the price.

Fantastic hunting jacket. The fit is excellent. Comfort is unmatched. Like your favorite hoodie, but for the outdoors and harsh conditions. Water resistant shell, soft Sherpa lining, flat-seam pockets. The hood has a removable face cover for windy/wet conditions. Adjustable hood closure. The camo pattern is appropriate and consistent. This is perfect for cold, wet conditions or driving rain. It works perfectly for me in a windy and rainy blind.
