Snow White (1987 Diana Rigg DVD)

Despite the Dutch cover, this is actually an English language disc. The single disc loads onto a main screen offering English, French or German sound. A quick click and the cursor goes to subtitles on/off, selecting off and it jumps to play movie. Click again and it plays in full English sound and even the titles are all in English, while picture and sound quality are fine, even if the songs have a sort of late fifties feel to them.Well what can you say about the story, it's Snow White with a comic musical fantasy twist. I know it's fantasy but the dwarves are more like Gwildor in He Man, their brilliant. No swearing, no sex, it's great family viewing with an Alice in Wonderland, Labyrinth, Time Bandits collides with Sound of Music feel to it. Sounds bizarre, is bizarre. Diana Rigg is the sinister Queen and plays a duplicitous Gypsy and Geisha to perfection. It's almost theatre for the small screen, but plays like a standard movie. Watch helplessly as the evil Queen Poisons the apple, it's bound to get some response from a young audience and many grown ups alike. Like I said, bizarre.Children of all ages will be enthralled by it all, I know I am!!Go on, treat yourself.

So happy they have this on dvd. I loved it when I was a little girl. This little film is such a rare little gem. It’s such a shame it’s not seen on tele anymore or anything as I think younger ones might still really like it. I’m now in my mid 30’s but really love and appreciate this little film. I’ve always preferred it so much to the old cartoon version.

Saw this film when I was a child 30 years ago so cant wait to see it again. Its a birthday present.

Was a childhood favourate of mine and couldn't get this in uk version on DVD, but works very well because of the region in UK. Good copy and is as i remembered it. :)

I hadn’t realised it was spoken over in Italian so had a shock but you can take it off easy. I bought it as I loved it as a child. The film and quality was fine.

Re visited my youth and shared with my own children

I bought this solely because it featured the little known actress Sarah Patterson, who made her debut in the brilliant 'A company of wolves'. She was only 13 when she made her first appearance then seem to disappear altogether. So when I saw she had made a film based on Snow White I thought why not buy a copy. It was not what I thought it would be, it was more like an amateur production of a Christmas village pantomime. When they burst in to song I was most bewildered, still I watched it till the end as painful as it was to do so. It is no wonder that Sarah Patterson didn't really pursue a career in acting if she was offered parts like this.

ok so im going to sound sad now.... I watched this all the time in the 90s as a child, absolutely loved it- so when I found the dvd.... had to buy it- something I want to watch with my children... classic in my opinion

j'ai achté ce dvd , car je regardais ce film quand j'étais petite en VHS!!!! j'ai enlevé 2 étoiles car le doublage en francais n'est pas le meme que dans mes souvenirs, et je déteste quand ce ne sont pas les meme voix!!!!

Meme si l histoire est classique, on ne se lasse pas de cette version, beaux décors et costumes. Acteurs moyens, mais le scenario et l'ambiance prend le dessus.

C’est le film que j'ai cherché, mais malheureusement ce ne sont pas la voix que je connais. C’est dommage mais bon...
