This flashlight is well-built and feels like a solid
This flashlight is well-built and feels like a solid, high quality piece of equipment in the hand—everything I’ve come to expect from Fenix. It’s actually lighter and more ergonomic than I thought it would be, and I have relatively small hands. The thing is, though, I wasn’t blown away by the 9,000 lumen maximum output, and that’s actually a compliment to Fenix. It’s exactly like getting the newest iPhone—the previous generation was already so good that the latest version, while nice, isn’t going to feel like a great leap forward. To say the same about this flashlight means that Fenix has reached Apple’s level of quality, and that is a compliment indeed. The user interface is excellent (and intuitive). The only knock that comes to mind is how quickly the battery drains when on full output, but that is obviously a trade-off, and I’m glad they decided to go with the smaller, lighter form factor. All in all, I consider this money well spent.

Brightest hand held light. Gets too hot to hold.
Flashlight gets extremely hot to hold at the brightest setting.

Landing lights in the palm of your hand
This is a multi functional light that will go from dim light reading a map mode to lighting up the runway for 777 to land.battery last for quite some time on the brightest setting. It will get warm on the brightest setting but man it is bright. It's pricey but if you need the functionality this is your light. I highly recommend this to all who want an excellent handy flashlight for exploring this is the one.

This appears to be a very sturdy and well made light by a reputable company
This appears to be a very sturdy and well made light by a reputable company. However this is really a 2,500 lumen light as it steps down to that level of brightness from the max 9,000 in under 2 min. Also it gets VERY hot...as in too hot to hold and too hot to even press the power off button with bare fingers, (You have to hold the power button for almost 2 seconds to turn off). My thermal sensor measured it at a max of 157 deg F at the side of the head and 147 F on handle near head...much too hot to hold for more than a few seconds. when running at 9k lumens. I do not have a way to test actual lumen output but IMO the visual difference in broghtness between the 5k light output (separate button for 5k) and the 9k output brightness is quite minimal.I have a few of their smaller lights and they are great. I had a problem with an older one a while back and they replaced it even though it was past warranty so I do like the company overall. I just don't think you should be able to call this a 9k lumen light if it won't run at that level for a sustained period of time in an acceptable temperature range.

Unreliable! A $330 flashlight should be reliable, and last a lifetime.
The flashlight itself was great, when it worked. It has one huge defect, however: It won’t recharge! When the charger is plugged in, it says “Charging”, and shows a charging animation — but after even 24 hours of this, it’s still at 1%! This doesn’t seem to be that rare either, looking at other reviews of Fenix’s integrated-battery models (like the UC52). I’ve tried the charger and cable that came with it, as well as other chargers and cables I know work well... so the problem lies within the TK72R itself.I’ll be returning this, since even if it was repaired or replaced, my confidence in the reliability is now very low: If they can’t even design a charging system reliably, how can I trust any other aspect of the electronics? How do I know if won’t just stop working or stop taking a charge a few months after the warranty expires? For a flashlight without an external charger or easily purchased replacement batteries, this is an instant dealbreaker. This unreliability makes it less appealing as a hiking or camping flashlight, especially. Note to Fenix: Perhaps simpler is better, if you can’t make the electronics reliable 100% of the time. This is a flashlight, not a space ship: There shouldn’t be a whole lot to go wrong, so when something as fundamental as charging doesn’t work, I worry about the reliability of every other function.I’d love to re-assess if they work out the bugs some day, but for a $330 flashlight, I expected more: A flashlight in this price range needs to last a lifetime, never spontaneously fail to function (whether we’re talking about turning it on, or charging it), and overall just be reliable.A $330 flashlight should work, every single time.

The best flashlight
Best flashlight ever. Like can we do adjusted from 100 lm to 9000 lm. There are two adjustment factors, short press 100 lm, one press 1000 lm. The flashlight will automatically reduce output as it heats up, but that takes quite a while for such a small unit. The throw on this thing is unbelievable.
