Made in Mexico?
Apparently I was under the misconception that all Carhartt products were made in the USA, this jacket came with a Made in Mexico tag. I hope my father-in-law still wants it once he sees it wasn't made here.

Be careful with the size
Maybe my proportions are odd but I had a devil of a time finding this coat in the right size. According to the Carhartt fit guide someone my height (6'1) should order the jacket in Tall. So I ordered a Tall XL (I usually wear standard XXL so I thought going down a size would be fine). But that was way too big so I returned it an ordered a Tall large. That was better, but it is still tad too big. The length in the arms is right, the vertical length is good, and it's not too big around the stomach and chest, but it's wide in the shoulders and arms and rather thick all around (unlike the picture of the model above, where the jacket clings pretty closely to the body). It's fine when I'm wearing a hoodie underneath but a bit more loose and baggy than I prefer over a shirt. I'd try going down another size but they don't make Tall Mediums. Just for the record, I'm 6'1 and weigh about 230. I'm worried that if I lose a bit of weight the jacket will be just too big for me.Other than that, the quality of the coat is excellent. I like the nice, thick denim that keeps the wind off of me. The Sherpa lining is warm and the zipper is sturdy. And it's stylish. I just wish I could find a better fit.

Excellent coat. Excellent brand.
I recently found myself in need of a new winter coat. I've always been impressed by the Carhartt brand and they have made me happy once again. The Sherpa Lined Sandstone Ridge Coat is a newer design and I think it fits and feels better than the traditional Carhartt winter coats which can tend to be too stiff and bulky. This jacket appears to have a slimmer cut and the Sherpa interior is cozy and soft, which makes it much more comfortable for everyday wear. (Even though I loved it, my last heavy duty Carhartt made me feel a bit like the Michelin Man, so for me the Sherpa lined is definitely an improvement.)Initially my main concern with purchasing this coat online was whether the fit would be long enough. Carhartt coats can sometime run too short at the waist and I considered buying the Large/Tall in anticipation of this problem, but I finally decided to go with the Large/Regular and it turns out that it fits perfectly on my 6'1", 180lbs frame. My other concern involved the cold-battling capabilities of the lining itself. The Carhartt website rates the Sherpa lining at a slightly lesser grade than the Arctic Quilt or the Quilted Flannel and I was worried that I might find myself on a jobsite outdoors with inadequate insulation. This proved not to be the case as I've already worked a few days outside in below-freezing temperatures and the Sherpa-lined kept me warm the entire time. In summary, an excellent coat that I expect to keep for many years.

phenomenal!!!
Bought the men's ridge coat for myself because it was longer in the back. The men's small fit beautifully and I am 109 lbs and 5'7"....so warm and the color is a rich chocolate brown. My husband only wears Carhartt and swears by the brand...now I know why. The pockets are Sherpa lined and inside the drawstring keeps the heat in. No need to wear a sweatshirt under this coat!! Great coat for outdoor work and won't have to worry about getting it ruined. Verrry happy with my purchase and will buy Carhartt again...for myself!

You always hurt the one you love.
This Carhartt coat is one of several I own. They are all so well made and durable that you can wear them like you hate them. The only problem is, the more you wear them, the more you love them. In whatever style, weight or warmth level, my Carhartt coat is always my "go to" coat. I've unintentionally subjected some of them to shameful abuse, but it's like they just laugh it off. It's like my suit of armor, with rugged style. You put it on, and suddenly the elements and rough spots in your world are no longer a concern. I can wear it for the tough jobs that would beat up lesser quality threads, but it's got the rugged good looks to go to all the kinds of places I like to go. My idea of getting "dressed up" is a darker pair of jeans and a shiny pair of boots. My Carhartt coats are perfect outerwear for my style. They age beautifully, although slowly because of their durability. Just read and follow the recommended cleaning instructions to properly preserve the fabric features. Carhartt is one of very few companies left that still makes 'em like they used to. They don't go in for "planned obsolescence". Give them a try, and you'll be a happy Carhartt customer, like me.

Best coat I have ever owned
I bought this coat this past January for a winter tent camping trip and it worked great. It kept me warm in the 20 degree weather day and night. It really cuts the wind too, even though it is fairly thin. The double zipper and adjustable cinching around the waist are great features to have. It is very durable and rugged; i am very satisfied. If this workhorse ever quits i will be sure to buy another.

Great Coat
Got this coat for my birthday in October and it has become my go-to all purpose coat. Very comfortable and looks great (better than the on-line photos) I can tell it will wear like iron and works well with layering too.
