Can't say enough good things about this game. My daughter (8) and I had a blast working on it. It is strikingly original, well designed, fun, and smart, with a great sense of humor. (The arch-villain is named The Grinner, which was already enough for me to feel good about the purchase.) And best of all, it has a real sense of momentum to it -- it's not a Monopoly-style death march. You're motivated to keep solving challenges, and eventually you reach the final puzzle that links everything together, and you solve it, and you feel great, and then you ... stop. With a smile. Endings are underrated. Bring on Episode 2!

Got this for my 4 year old for Christmas as part of our “games to play together” theme and it’s so perfect. He needs help doing it now so we read the book together and do the activities but I’m already excited for him to discover it all again when he’s a little older and can read it on his own. Nice, unique alternative to electronics and a fun way to connect while he’s still young and will continue to be a fun adventure for him as he grows.

An entertaining graphic novel with a twist — you can only advance through the story by solving puzzles/challenges. This would be the perfect gift for a middle-school aged kid to enjoy with friends or family or even on their own.Strong points:-the storyline is entertaining, packed with humor and adventure-the challenges include a variety of puzzles and tasks, making it appealing for kids with a range of skills and interests-not a lot of time spent reading instructions-the thrill of an escape room, but from the comforts of your home, and with the flexibility to start and stop as desired-one-of-a-kind!Potential downsides:-not designed to be played more than once-be prepared to spend more time punching out the paper cards than actually solving the puzzleOverall, would definitely recommend and looking forward to the release of the next box!

My 12yo daughter who enjoys crafting (crochet, wooden puzzles, kiwi kits) and I absolutely loved our evening playing this escape room in a box. Took us about 2 hrs to finish with some breaks. The immersive experience of having a graphic novel that's also an animated audiobook with great voice acting really makes this standout. Usually we're just reading a couple paragraphs about a murder mystery. This was a whole SF plot within a creative world with characters and humor. I was surprised by my engagement in the story.The box itself has several challenges interwoven into the story, many of which involve a mechanical element - something you have to do with your hands. It's not just a passive stare at a card and figure out the word / picture puzzle of some sort. We liked having to craft / manipulate things. We hope to share this box with friends and family who like these types of games. It's definitely replayable if you're careful about not destroying anything.The only part that makes it hard to pass along is that we got the accompanying Starlings Cube which has 6 sides and we've now solved 1 side. Shaking the cube, there sounds like there could be something inside. Does that mean once we have the 6 sides solved something happens? That would be incredible. Problem is now we can't pass along the game without giving up a 1/6 collectible. It is a conundrum.Great game, loved the concept, and we look forward to the other 5 episodes. I'm crossing my fingers that my daughter will still enjoy this with me when episode 6 drops.FYI - my 14yo son had little interest. He may be too cool now for stuff like this.

The media could not be loaded. It’s like an escape room meets a comic book with an awesome storyline and hilarious commentary. I actually laughed out loud at some of the gameplay instructions. Everyone in the family looks forward to playing and it does not disappoint. So much content here, it’s going to take us a while to get through all of it - WELL WORTH THE INVESTMENT.Included the unboxing just to show some of the contents of the box. Everything feels like premium quality and it’s obvious a lot of care was put into the packaging and organization of materials.Planning on buying more of these for nieces and nephews for Christmas!

I’m not usually a comic book reader, but I love escape rooms so I gave this a try, and it did not disappoint!! As someone in my 30s with no kids, I had my reservations about whether or not this would be too simple for me, but I’m so glad I took the plunge! The story is incredibly well written and beautifully illustrated - I couldn’t put it down and was laughing out loud throughout. The escape room style puzzles were so clever (and educational for the kids and kids at heart)! The attention to detail really shows. Can’t wait for the next in the series!
