Whirlpool 2188656 Crisper Pan, Standard, White

It fits perfectly my older model KENMORE Coldspot 106.56563400 refrigerator (sold by Sears). After some research I figured out that Whirlpool makes these parts sold under different brand names, and that Whirlpool part 2188656 is the same size as the older Whirlpool part. Concerning several customers writing that they got a part without the humidity control and/or without the white plastic handle cover, they must have ordered through Amazon from non-Amazon vendors, or perhaps purchased this at a time that Amazon was providing them from another supplier, because the drawer I got was packaged in an original Whirlpool box, and it did come with the humidity control and the white plastic handle cover, as shown in the Amazon photograph.Concerning the design of these drawers I fully agree that it is very badly designed. It seems to be made of Polycarbonate (or a similar transparent thermoplastic). I looked at the old drawer slides and at the slides of the other drawers in the refigerator and all the slides all show incipient micro-cracks when looked at with magnification (which looks like a white discoloration to the naked eye). So I thought, what lubricant could I use that is bio-compatible and works well at low temperatures?Of course, Chap-Stick, is bio-compatible as it is meant to be used on human lips, is meant to be used at low temperatures, and is a great lubricant. So I put Chap-Stick through all the slides. This works great: the drawers now slide in and out of the refrigerator much better without the stick-slip that was present before and was responsible for the micro-cracking.

Was a perfect fit

Need to replace an accidentally cracked crisper drawer for a Whirlpool WRS325FDAM01 refrigerator. Whirlpool official documents list WP2188656 as the replacement part number. There are many "compatible" replacement drawers out there but ordered this "genuine OEM" at a reasonable price from Direct Supply Store. Arrived less than 24 hours in perfect condition in a nice Whirlpool Certified box. Match the old drawer exactly with the same 2174108 number stamped on the rim. I did notice it took some effort to open and close the old drawer because of the slide/track design. I took the opportunity to apply some food grade silicone lubricant (Super Lube 56204 O-Ring Silicone Lubricant I happen to have on hand) on to the slide/track. The drawer now works much better than new:)

It's a good thing they still have replacement parts for a fridge that is about five years old. There's nothing wrong with the drawer itself, it is what it is. The fault is in the design of the drawer track. Overpack the crisper and that brittle track breaks like a toothpick. Wish they would design sturdier drawer mechanisms. Not the drawer's fault, and that's why I gave it five stars.Perhaps higher end refrigerators have rollers, steel tracks, ball bearings and sturdy hardware. This drawer gets pulled in and out numerous times, every day. Won't stand up to very heavy items (lots of apples, potatoes, oranges, a big piece of watermelon). Fine for light stuff. Won't handle a giant uncut brisket. Designed for little bits of stuff. The kind of small amounts that a single or pair of normal people would buy. Not enough room to keep vegetables and fruits for 20 parrots. Need second fridge in garage to hold the rest of four or five days' worth of produce. Not just a little bitty drawer.

I broke the slide rails on the original drawer one day in a fit of rage over not being able to close the drawer, dumb I know. After anger management classes and several years of making do with the broken drawer, I was recently doing a very thorough cleaning of the fridge's interior, and discovered the bottom of the fridge was white and not brown: who knew! Since the fridge was so clean and looked almost new, I decided I should replace the broken drawer with one that worked.Before buying any replacement part you have to do your homework to ensure you order the correct part. To make sure I got the correct part, I went online to Whirlpool.com (kudos to whirlpool they have a great site) where I learned from reading the product manual and going to Whirlpool's parts order depot that this was a newer part that replaced my drawer.The seller was excellent, and I would buy from them again. Product was a Whirlpool OEM part, the price was competitive, product was in stock as advertised, my order was processed and delivered quickly and undamaged.

I checked my model # to make sure this would fit. Perfect fit. Quality matched original drawers. But pricey! So 4/5 stars. I've been waiting and watching for the price to drop. I got tired of waiting. My original drawer was falling apart due to cracking from dropping it. I never saw a price drop!

I bought it to replace our broken pan. But after few months, this also broke. It has barely any weight bearing ability.
