I tried this coffee in the Dominican and it instantly became my favorite. It has a bold and rich flavor and I would highly recommend it!

On merit alone, this coffee is certainly enjoyable, albeit expensive. I'm glad to see the price coming down for the US market. However, it's important to mention that this coffee is very chocolate-forward. For me, it is an immediate slap in the face. There's nothing wrong with that, but this does not replace my morning cup of pure coffee. This is almost a dessert type of coffee for me. Where I struggle is how it is portrayed. This is not pure coffee. It is not coffee that has been artfully crafted to yield a "chocolatey" note. It is 99% coffee of reasonable quality, and 1% crystalized cocoa (I say crystalized because if you look at the grinds in a certain light, you can see the crystals glinting), as is clearly stated on the ingredients. None of that information is indicating some dark conspiracy, although some coffee purists might consider it cheating. What I prefer doing with this coffee is adding just a dash or two of it to my preferred roast of pure coffee. This greatly diminishes the in-your-face coffee smack, but still compliments the coffee very nicely; not to mention the fact that it is far less expensive to do it that way. But that's just my personal preference. I didn't rate it at 5 stars, because of the ambiguity of what you're getting. But there is no doubt in my mind that many people will thoroughly enjoy this coffee, despite the knocks here and there.

Taste so smooth & no bitterness. Has a slight chocolate flavor. My husband and I are both very impressed with this wonderful coffee. I went to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip about18 years ago and this is what they served us every morning. It’s so yummy! So happy to have it delivered by subscription now. We will never run out. Just wish they had bigger bags of it.

I went to the Dominican Republic a few years ago to do volunteer work and drank this coffee every day I was there and WOW, it was great! I am very happy to be able to purchase this coffee from Amazon. It‘s to be noted that in fine print on the bottom of the bag that it’s 99% Coffee and 1% artificial Flavors, which I assume is the chocolate flavor. I was a little disappointed to see this. Also, the bag is smaller than the ones I purchased in the DR. All that being said, it is not too sweet and the chocolate flavor is not overpowering. This is great coffee with or without half-and-half. I received this order on time and I recommend.
