Overall recommended. The bookshelf is about a foot shorter and a few inches more narrow than I would have liked but this is the best bookshelf could find to replace a $600 Pottery Barn ladder shelf that won't be in stock for another 3 months.When assembling make sure to only loose tighten all the bookshelf screws (except for the drawers) because when assembled the shelf will need to be adjusted to be flush to a wall. Once everything is flush and level, then fully tighten all the screws.The base has a back footing to take weight which means this is not a true leaning shelf. One or both of the side arms may need adjusting to touch the wall when the unit is upright.The bookcase has an IKEA quality feel both in a good and bad way. One of the things I dislike is the lack of lockdown for the back part of each shelf. Only dowel rods hold the back parts in place. There should be at least one lock screw for the back part of the shelves.Assembly is straight forward but the total time for me to move the box into the room, unpack, assemble, setup, adjust and clean up was over 3 hours. For that amount of time it would be better to have more pieces preassembled, like the drawer section, and have side arms in a single piece instead of 2 pieces for sturdiness. I would have gladly paid $100-$300 more if this bookshelf was more study bigger and required less assembly.They used styrofoam for packing

This is the fourth Coaster piece I've bought for my office, so I knew what to expect when it came to the assembly. They made this one slightly easier by having the tracking for the drawers already screwed on to the sections, which I thought was a good idea. However, after getting the whole thing put together, when I went to put the drawers in, I found that the top left drawer will not sit flush, and sticks out slightly from the other drawers. It must have been a fault at the factory, and there isn't anything I can do about it, as the tracks are set, so I'll have to live with it. And yes, I've swapped all the drawers around, but they're now in the configuration they're supposed to be in as per the instructions, and they just don't fit exactly as they should. It's not a major problem, and no pieces were missing or broken, which is always a relief when flat pack furniture gets shipped. No one will notice the drawer not sitting right but me, unless I point it out to anyone who visits. Had all the drawers fit together properly, I would have given five stars, as the piece is heavy and sturdy, looks good, and matches the rest of my office furniture.

I am always nervous ordering large items online especially furniture. The hassle of having to return it damaged makes it uneasy when placing an online order. I saw this was coming from Texas to us in NYC which gave me second thoughts, but I loved the look of it so much! and the price was reasonable that I went for it!Well, a week later it showed up to our apartment and it was wrapped at least 4-5 times (manually) to ensure it would not be damaged in transit. It took a good 20 minutes to unwrap with scissors and a box cutter as it was so securely wrapped (my main concern). What a great packing job! and not a mark or nick on it!It has a nice dark finish which gives it a nice rich look (even thought I know it's mostly just pressed wood). When put together it looks EXACTLY like the image they have online. It took a little over 2 hours on a Friday night to fully be put together and the directions are very detailed and self explanatory (complete opposite of IKEA).NOTE: The bottom drawers have specific locations where they fit, so if they don't fit the first time and start overlapping, start moving them around until you get it. The direction don't tell you this.Bottom line: A bit of work, but well worth it! We have it our bedroom and it lQQks fantastic!

Took a bit to put together but feels very sturdy and looks great. I wish the drawers were soft glide/close, but other than that I am happy with the purchase.

This book shelf is perfect for us. Exactly what we were looking for. We wanted something that looked great but with medium quality to keep the cost down. This is it. It looks freaking awesome...just like the picture. It has 4 spacious drawers that work really well. I did the assembly by myself and it wasn't too bad, but I'm an engineer and I'm good at reading assembly diagrams and I'm technically proficient. I can see my wife having a hard time with the assembly. Just pay attention and take your time and get a helper. Like some people have said in other reviews, take everything out and lay it in the floor and organize it and then follow instructions step by step, do not try to assemble this without following instructions. Some people said that the drawers do not fit well...That is because it has a particular order so that they can create the really nice assymetrical look shown in the pictures...if you follow the instruction it will work out.The quality like I said before is medium, if you have kids or pets keep them off this furniture if you hit it it will chip...if you take good care of it, it should last you long enough. People want a piece of furniture for less than $200 and they want it made from Mahogany!!! Come on people!

When the box came, we thought for sure there would be messed up wood pieces, but everything was intact as it is well boxed. The assembly was super easy, just a bit time consuming as is most furniture you have to put together. Took my husband and I about 2 hours. The drawers have a left and right side. You’ll know this because they won’t close unless they are put in correctly. The piece when finished is beautiful and just what we were looking for in the empty space we had next to our fireplace. The four drawers are such an added bonus. I wouldn’t hesitate buying again one if I wanted another one.
