well written
as a fan of the rangers apprentice series I loved this book! it didn't cover as much stuff or bring in some good characters. such as Halt or Horace. but it was a great read, and kept me on my toes.

Another good read in the series
This far in the series, there is little criticism to be referenced. Recommendations for this read go to adventure seekers, horse lovers, and those enjoying stealth type characters.

Unsatisfying
Well written but kind of a simple plot. Several scenes were repeated and the same background information was provided several times. The cast of characters was thin. Almost all the old favourites were not in the story at all. I just read the author's latest Brotherband Chronicles book (#9) and got the same slightly worn, tired feeling. The problem with setting such a high standard in earlier books is that we have come to expect so much.
