My dog loves it and it's safe for him
My dog loves it, and it's one of the protein sources he can have. I only get single ingredient, freeze dried treats because he has a sensitive gut and I know exactly what he is getting with this product since it has no other ingredients and is not baked at high temperatures (very bad for dogs).

Even my picky ones love them
Love these, all 9 dogs love them and they are the right size for a treat for my frenchies (aka no having to break them up for the ones that want to inhale food)

Hard as a rock! Tasteless.
I make better venison jerky in the field. This stuff sux, and it’s pricy too. It’s processed and extruded! Will never buy again. It’s hard, dry, tasteless.Sux as a training treat. Better off with a wiener.

Single Ingredient, novel protein treat - pocket friendly by my standards
I'm Reviewing Ventus brand Biltong Style Venison Liver Cutlets.According to the bag, the only ingredient is "venison." According to the name of the treat, these treats are pieces of venison LIVER (and the smell and the cross sections of the pieces are consistent with dried liver). They come in a range of sizes, up to about 2 inches long on the longest dimension and range from about 1/8 inch to 3/4 inch in thickness. For ME (and the way that I train and live with my dogs) these treats are too large. The thinner pieces can easily be broken or torn into smaller (appropriate sized) pieces). The thicker pieces are not easily broken up but can be cut with a knife or kitchen shears. As stated by previous reviewers, these premium treats do have a high price point. Based on my many years of experience with food allergic pets (and trying to source novel protein ingredients for them), this seems like about the "right" price for this exotic protein ingredient. Bear in mind that about one and a quarter pound of the raw liver (with about 70% moisture) was used to make 8 ounces of biltong (with 11% moisture) included in the package. Both of my dogs really like these. My cat thought the concept was interesting (and drooled some) but chose not to eat any of the very small pieces I put in front of him.One small thing kinda bugs me here. Upon opening the bag, I noticed that some of the treat pieces have "hair" (or something similar to hair) adhered to them (two types, one fine and one coarse). It appears to be a different entity than the connective tissue (veins, etc.) that you find in the liver. It looks like hair or other fiber dropped onto the wet pieces and got stuck there when the surface liquid (juice or blood?) dried.I tried to show the hair in the pictures. [Note: one of those hairs was pulled off of a piece and is lying separate, and the others are "stuck" in place. Also note: the hair is not consistent with the hair from my pets.] I'll ask the seller if they know what it is from. Also, this being liver, it's probably a good idea to somewhat limit how much of this your pet eats per day (it's very rich). Some people find that a liver "overdose" is followed by diarrhea.

Way too hard.
The treats arrived sealed, but they are ROCK HARD. Way too hard for my pets teeth. I wish I didn’t throw the bag away immediately after I repackaged them into a new jar so I could send them back. I’m probably going to have to blend them into tinier chunks or into a powder even and just use it as a food topper. I definitely wouldn’t classify this as a “jerky”. Literally tried smashing it under something and it didn’t even CRACK.
