Book wasn't too bad!
So I got this book because I go in and out of my desire to run. I once trained and ran a half marathon and 10K, but have since then fallen off of the wagon. I thought it'd be able to shed some new light on an ancient art. I was both wrong and right. Nolan does a good job of briefly describing why we need running and also how to incorporate it into every day life. I like how she makes it as simple as, "do this for 5 mins," etc. It really is a good resource for busy people. Needless to say, it also inspired me to just go out with my dog and run/walk for a half our two days a week. It's worth the trouble and it's better than just being in the house and jogging in place.Overall, I'd recommend this book for people who have no clue; however, if you've ever run before, then you may just read it for motivation.

Short, Direct, Doable
I found this book by accident one day when I was looking for some inspiration to help with my weight loss goals. I now have Morton's Neuroma in my right foot so for me running definitely sucks since there is lots of pain involved. I confess I bought the book just because the title seemed to speak to me personally. Anyway, there was nothing in this e-book that was completely new to me, but Jennifer's delivery just got me thinking and seeing things in a new way. I could picture her jumping up during TV commercials to get in some quick exercise. It made me realize that I have more time that I think I have and that I could get a very nice workout at home in a little more time it used to take me to drive to the gym. I can't say the weight is flying off but I can feel my fitness level improving--no more huffing and puffing, heart pounding when I get to the top of the stairs. I felt a little silly the first time I did the 5 minute workout she recommends, but my heart rate increased and I really worked up a sweat. It felt invigorating and gave me a happy glow for the rest of the day because it was quick and I started the day doing something proactive to advance my goal of losing weight. As others have noted, this book is not really a book but more of a pamphlet. Given the fact that it got me up and moving I feel like I absolutely got my money's worth. I subsequently download another of Jennifer's e-books based on this one.

Running DOES Suck!
I have always been that kind of person that wouldn't workout unless I could do at least an hour of cardio. I've always LOVED to exercise and even ran for years, but as I've grown older my knees have stopped loving to run. In fact, for the last several months I had stopped doing my regular hour of cardio, because of my knee pain and just got in some cardio where I could fit it in. Well, guess what! I was losing weight! Without trying, without doing a monotonous hour on the treadmill....weird, right? So, I started doing some research looking for a reason this was happening. That's when I came upon Jennifer's book, and, boy, she had me at the title. LOL!! I love the fact that she doesn't give you tons of science on why it works (just enough), and I love the fact that she gets right to the subject and gives you several options to make it happen. Her writing style is wonderful....easy to understand and funny! Like you finally got one of your skinny girlfriends to sit down and tell you her secrets!! After reading this book, I also bought "The Ultimate Diet Book". Running DOES suck, but Jennifer ROCKS!

Worth It
To be honest, the book itself doesn't cover such controversial concepts as certain reviews would have you believe; every single point made has been researched thoroughly. However, though I understand that the purpose was to appeal to a large audience and thus the writing is put in simpler terms, I would have preferred more scientific evidence with her writing, just to confirm her statements.I also wish she had explained the Tabata and HIIT training in more detail - they're more complicated than she describes in her book and as such, readers following the protocols the way she outlines them herself may not reap the full benefits of these forms of exercise.Another thing was that Jolan essentially repeated the same concept - HIIT training - three times; as in, three different ways of performing the same sort of exercise. She should have structured it better by perhaps beginning with what HIIT was and then building on easy, convenient ways to include them in daily life, i.e. the Stairs Run-Walk method.I felt that she tried to put in too much information in a such a small amount of space. On one hand, I think she covered enough topics that readers can research on their own, but i would have preferred for her to have reduced the quantity and focused on the intricacy of the text.Overall, I recommend purchasing the book - it's not that expensive and it exposes you to a lot of various concepts which you can research in more detail on your own. I think it's worth it

Quick, easy to read, and full of helpful information
I was reviewing a book that a friend had suggested for me but the reviews were not very good. So I looked at the "recommended books" that were comparable; Running SUCKS came up and had good reviews so I did so I downloaded to my Kindle app and finished it very quickly. I now have a page of notes to further review but I can guarantee that tonight I will try running the stairs. Possibly doing the eye exercises as well. I am sure to download other books by Ms. Jolan in the next few days. (I am hypothyroid and have been for over 20 years. I would love LOVE to be able to get off these pills. I have eliminated all but Thyroid and High blood pressure medication so far. I HATE to run, dislike chemicals in my food and believe that our doctors are making us sicker. Can't wait to read more!

A book for women reviewed by a man.
Recently started running after both myself and my wife quit smoking. Between the weight gain and the new ability to take deep breathes without coughing we both made the choice to start running. So back to the book, I read it to get a better perspective on running through the eyes of a women who might hate the activity. The book reads well and had a lot of quick fix ideas to help get into the habit of running. It was amusing to see my wife run up the stairs over and over. Even more amusing that when I tried it I ended up on my backside at the bottom of the stairs, walking down is mandatory.Anyhow the book was great, my only complaint is that it was so short.

Lost a kilo (2.2 lbs) before I even got started.
Running SUCKS! - Lose Pounds & Inches Using the Effortless Exercise Method, 5-Second Flat Belly Secret & 5-Minute Miracle Exercises Downloaded the book on Saturday. Started reading on the way to work. I tried some of the exercises when I had a spare minute or two and did some more on the way home. On Sunday I was a kilo lighter.I read a bit more and attempted some more exercises yesterday and had lost another half a kilo today. It's something you can fit into any small amount of spare time and my dog is getting the benefit too as I'm using outdoor steps that run down to a river for that part of the exercise.Jennifer does a lot of her exercises during the commercial breaks when watching TV. I'd say why wait for the breaks. You can do resistance training or hula hooping and watch TV at the same time or just put it off and get out of the house. Straight to the point even if you don't like the point being made
I like the way Jennifer Jolan writes her books. I bought this book even though I like jogging - I've just let it all slip over the last 3 years and I am getting back into a routine. I had never tried the interval style running but I am incorporating it at the moment and it is challenging and effective, so much so that I can now run longer than a couple of kms! So why only 3 stars? I am not a big fan of supplementation or anything that comes in a bottle or jar or powder format - for me, health comes from eating the right food and most of the right food does not come in a packet with a shelf life. Jolan has made some very good points in her books and her writing style is fun and on form even if sometimes perhaps the science seems a little OTT or perhaps unproven (but then can we take science too seriously when they are always discovering new things that counteract the old claims!) For non-runners, I think this would be a great book to up the fitness levels quickly and effectively

get book, but i love running!
I purchased this book only because I have all of Jens other brilliant books. However this one just wasn't for me. I love to run. so as you can tell even the title of this book doesn't suit me. all the exercises and information within this book is clever and actually helps weight loss. Hence why i gave it four stars as it is still a well thought out book. There have been some comments about the shortness of this book - I love how short it is! its not about quantity its about quality and i'd rather the author get straight to the point then keep rambling on. Jen has done well at making the balance just right. You should purchase this book if you are serious about weight loss (and even if you do love running) it will help.

A useful little book for the for a very low price.
I already have several of Jennifer's books and I think they are excellent. They are easy to follow and can be mix and matched to create a diet and exercise programme that works especially for you. Running sucks is straightfoward and makes sense. I'm looking at combining the advice in it together with the deep breathing with my swimming to creat a full exercise programme that I can enjoy doing.

Good short little book
Could probably find articles of this length free on the web, but I still think it was worth the £1.98 I paid. I thought I'd give the 5 minutes of stair climbing a try - sounds easy, I regularly hike over 10 miles at a fairly brisk pace. Well, I only managed 3 minutes before I thought I'd faint and my lungs were burning. I'll carry on with this and see how long before I can do the full 5 minutes.
