A good value
There are quite a few negative reviews for this set of bandanas, which I am quite surprised at, actually. I bought them for use as masks. Upon receiving them, they were rather stiff with starch, and had a mild, chemical smell to them. They did seem very thin compared to other traditional bandanas. After one wash, however, they softened up and the smell was completely gone. I've been using one every day at work, and with each wash they get softer and softer. The thin feeling goes away, as the threads expand in the laundry. Other reviewers have complained about the little threads on the edges. I don't find this a problem, really. They are well made and it's easy to just snip a couple of threads off. Not a big deal to me. They don't unravel. The seams are well sewn. I am very happy with my purchase and I'm picky about things. The pack of 12 is convenient. The pink color is cute. After washing, they are extremely comfortable. I'd buy again, for sure.

Finally, great quality
I researched and bought bandannas from another source that were a little cheaper in price. Those were fraying when I opened the package and have fallen apart after a couple wearings. The bandannas are high quality and will last a longggggg time. Very happy with this purchase and vendor.

VERY Thin. Probably more for craft projects than a pocket handkerchief.
Time will tell, but these probably aren't going to last very long. They are extremely thin and some of the hem is already starting to fray. Hand wash only? Who hand washes handkerchiefs? Good thing they were cheap. These would probably be great for a craft or decorative project where durability is not a concern.Edit: I have had these for over a year and they are holding up better than expected. I am not handwashing, I am just throwing them in the washing machine. Also, due to the feel and texture of the material, I'm not sure they are actually cotton.

A bit thin
During this time of Pandemic, my grown son refuses to wear a 'mask' even though they are required in public here in the state of Rhode Island.. so he informed me that he wanted black bandana's like his buddies are wearing... With all stores currently wiped out, I went to Amazon where I found this value pack. The price was great and I took the chance.. they are a bit thin compared to the old school one's that my Dad used to use as a hanky but they are soft, washed up nicely and are serving the purpose of a face covering. If you looking to use them as a hanky, I would think twice as they are a bit thin for that purpose.

Cheap handkerchiefs for guys who use them
I belong to that subset of the population that keeps a handkerchief in my pocket to clean up messes and keep my various pocket-tools, keys and so forth from rattling around and falling out. I have had dozens over the years, but prefer the larger, paisley sort like these. They are pretty much the definition of "okay". The material is a bit thin, and at least two of the handkerchiefs had loose threads after only the first wash. However, they softened up acceptably after the first wash and appear to be serviceable enough, especially for dirty work.If you want a thicker, more robust handkerchief, I recommend the one's from REI - they are made in the USA and of a substantially heavier material. These are Chinese-made and show it. However, I bought twenty of the REI ones for daily around-the-house-and-office use, and twenty of these for dirty, sweaty jobs.Color-wise - I recommend the tan/beige, as they seem to hide discoloration well. Darker colors would hide it better, unless you plan on using these to blow your nose, as mucus tends to show up more on dark backgrounds.
