Absolute Garbage
First thing I noticed, the unit did not come with the accessories as listed, 2nd thing when turned on, the battery indicator showed one bar. I examined the batteries the unit came with and noticed corrosion. Did the seller send me old stock or used? I replaced the batteries with brand new fresh batteries I had on hand and the unit showed full at 3 bars and zero ph. I performed a factory reset and still show zero ph, placed tip in water and still shoes zero. Returning this piece of junk.

I've been wanting a digital pH meter for ages!
I hear a lot of my fellow sourdough bakers talking about starter going acidic on them. I have been wanting to get a baseline pH reading on my starter (which is still happy, healthy and productive) so I'll be on alert if it starts to get acidic on me. This digital pH meter for food, sourdough, cheese, etc. fits the bill to a T and I'm very happy to have it. I did a hasty check of the pH of my starter this afternoon and got a reading of 7.06. To the best of my recollection from high school science class, that is "neutral" and I'm presuming it is within the desirable range for sourdough starter. I'm going to check this from time to time to see if I notice any substantial variations on this reading. I'm also an avid gardener so the two separate probes on this pH meter really appealed to me. I'm going to mark one as "soil only" for use here in my own garden beds and also in the beds of the community garden program that I support to help feed the hungry in our community. If the pH of your soil is not right -- regardless of whatever amendments you might incorporate -- your garden will not thrive. IMPORTANT WORD OF CAUTION: Though it's not mentioned in the descriptive text for this item, there is mention of using this meter in the process of canning food within the graphics that accompany this listing. I do NOT -- repeat, do NOT -- recommend relying on this or any other pH meter to determine how one should or could preserve food through home canning. That is dangerous and potentially deadly! The only way to SAFELY preserve food through canning is to follow the specific directions and instructions of the National Center for Home Food Preservation (NCHFP), Ball preserving or its Canadian "cousin", Bernardin. There is much more to safely preserving food than just checking its pH. Don't let "canning rebels" tell you otherwise. The health and potentially even the lives of your family are at stake. Botulism is nothing to mess around with! Don't risk your family's welfare by following so-called advice from random people with smartphones who post contradictory information on the internet. You can always rely on the NCHFP, Ball and Bernardin for SAFE canning directions and advice.

Hit or miss
It doesn't seem to be all accurate and it fluctuates quite a bit when comparing results with a branded ph tester. I used aquarium ph solution to test it and it's inaccurate but then some results are accurate.

A generic Food PH meter
These meters are pretty good, they are generic, clones of clones etc. However they are fairly decent quality. These are pretty accurate and work well. I calibrate mine each time. I have several of these, which is how I know they are clones of clones. But this model works pretty good. I have a few and calibrate and use them each time as a way to check one against the other to make sure they still work properly. I love this type of PH probe because the probe tip is super easy to clean. It feels like acrylic, not the traditional glass bulbs used in lab instruments. These are made specifically for testing food PH. They seem pretty accurate so far. I use these to make sure my canning mixes are the proper PH before sealing.

Calibration sucks. Spend more and get a better product from APERA.
First and foremost, they claim the unit is calibrated from the factory, which is a lie. Mine gave readings all over the place from 6 to 8 pH in distilled water. Second, they give you calibrating "powder", which has to be mixed with ionized water in order to be effective as a calibrating tool. Completely useless. I gave up on this unit and ordered a pH meter from APERA, which included calibration SOLUTION, not powder, which made setting up and taking accurate measurements quick and easy. And they DIDN'T lie to me about the unit being pre-calibrated from the factory - the manual says calibrate before you use it, and store it with some of the calibration solution in the cap to maintain sensitivity. Either way, the ease of use on the APERA unit blew this piece of crap away. I threw it in the garbage, where it belongs.

Poor quality and very unstable
Don’t really care for product. Can’t use on hot food. Instructions are pretty worthless. The reading is so up and down. Not too functional as I’d rate the quality as poor.

Digital pH Reading Fast
The RAINLEOTI Digital pH Meter includes instructions, an extra test probe, a small screwdriver, and three packets of calibration powder. Batteries are already installed. It uses three LR44 button cells. The instructions provide a detailed explanation of the rather tedious calibration process. Thankfully, the instructions say, "It has been calibrated at the factory and can be used directly." I tried measuring the pH of a few drops of water in the palm of my hand, and it gave a reading very quickly. Next, I filled a glass with tap water and measured it with an aquarium test kit that uses a color chart. Then, I took a reading with the meter for comparison. I noticed that my photo makes the solution look darker than it looked to my eyes. The color guide on the box lid matched closer to 6.8 to 7.0 to my eyes, but in the photo, it looks closer to 6.6. It may have been because the solution was in shadow in the photo. Nonetheless, the digital tester showed 6.84, though it actually jumped around a little. You must wait for the meter to settle down to a steady reading. The "Hold" button is handy to capture the reading once it seems settled. In general, this is a handy, quick way to measure the pH of foods and liquids. It appears to be relatively accurate. They provide a means to calibrate it if you feel the readings are off. I love seeing a digital readout instead of trying to match a color chart. I am very happy with this pH meter.
