Multifunctional Sink Stopper
These sink strainers not only look amazing but they have two points of strainers to collect waste. Thus preventing waste from getting into your pipes. They also have two functions, you can lock them in to hold water in the sink, or leave them popped out so water can drain and the second collection area still holds waste you can easily wipe out. Impressive, seriously

It's plastic - and plastic stains. Bad idea for a sink drain.
I don't get why I'd want a plastic drain in a $600 sink, but thats the option if you bought Kraus. What sucks about white plastic is it stains easily. The photograph is of my 2month old drain, after being scrubbed with bleach. Unacceptable. Also bizarre is the way it installs. You screw it from the inside of the sink (see the silver thread in the center of the drain?) The issue is that you have to crank the thing down INCREDIBLY tight if you dont want a leak... and as it's plastic, it feels like it'll snap.Honestly, this drain sucks.

Easy to install but concerned about debris buildup
very hard to find a sink strainer that is white and durable. Tried various brass ones and none of them lasted very long as they would quickly chip. Since its plastic shouldn't have that problem. There is however a gap between the top above the sink and the bottom below the sink which could retain debris that could be unhealthy. Had similar one before and it captured food debris in that location so hope this one is better. On another point some reviewers state the rubber gasket shows above the sink. If so then don't use it but use silicon instead. White silicon will seal better and won't show. Much better option for this unit.

Under-Designed for Normal Loads. No Installation Instructions
I purchased this to go with my KUE-14WHITE undermount sink and quickly realized that it has a flange design that is different than most 3.5" strainers. It has a center brass spindle that is tensioned from above using a flat screwdriver. Tensioning compresses the plastic flange to an in-sink gasket, the sink itself, an under-sink gasket and then a plastic under-sink fitting with an embedded brass nut. Although attractive, it is under-designed to handle inevitable large side and vertical loads from heavy-handed users. This strainer will break at the nut to under-sink fitting interface resulting in an catastrophic loss of seal across the in-sink and under-sink gaskets. In addition, the use of a center tensioning spindle and nut design, instead of under-sink tightening ring and threads, forces installers to over-tension the spindle just to get the flange gaskets to seal. Over-tensioning further reduces any margin to failure.Do yourself a favor and stay with the tried and true designs. A stainless steel strainer may not be as attractive as a color -matched strainer, but it will certainly not surprise (and cost) you like this one will.In addition, there are no installation instructions, just an assembly diagram. It is not clear if any type of sealant is intended to be used with the flange gaskets. There was no sealant included in the shipped package, nor any depicted on the assembly diagram. Rubber breaks down as it ages, so without the use of any sealant, the flange will eventually start leaking. Returning tomorrow.
