First Cut is the best
The First Series opens with one of the best intros in the history of the genre of television drama. This Casualty is a millions mile from the current run and countless spin offs that have lazily traded of the Casualty brand. Real actors obviously not chosen for some superficial sex appeal but rightly on their dramatic creditability and real and believable situations form the bed rock of this procedurial drama. Like that other long running procedural the Bill the original series was a dark realistic look at the working life's of front line staff doing a thankless , but crucially relevant job. Focusing on charcther driven storylines. The over payed producers of today's Holby and Casualty could learn some basics which they seem to have missed in their vain pursuit of glamour and aping American prime time.

Casualty 1st Series
I ordered the Casualty first series DVD and received it this morning. Obviously not managed to watch it all yet, but I've had a quick look at a couple of the DVDs......looks really good. Looking forward to start watching it!Matt O'Malley asked on a previous review if the programmes are edited or complete episodes.....well on the back of the box it says in very small writing "Due to clearance and contractual reasons, certain edits have been made!". However, don't let this put anyone off.....I don't think much has been edited, perhaps only a couple of minutes over the entire series.....the four DVD's total 12 hours and 11 minutes. So thats just over 48 minutes per episode!!!When I read Matts question I was a bit dubious about buying the DVD....but I'm pleased I did order it......can't wait to watch it all! (I hope this is of some help to you Matt!)

Not bad, but.
I think that in the 1980's the way patients were treated was good. The drama of Casualty showed how bad it could get.Charlie is the only one of the cast still in it. He has been there since it started in 1986.I have only to season 1, 2 and 3 on DVD. What happened to all the rest of the years between 1988 to 2013?I think some of the cast are a bit rude, especially Duffy and the young male doctor is not very polite. They smoke inside the hospital which is disgusting. The hygiene was poor and the standard of the paramedics was not good. Will they put the rest on DVD or not?

Good but expensive.
Reall good seeing all the old faces again. Picture quality is excellent for such an old program. Only gripe is the stupid price otherwise I would give 5 stars.

Can't review it as it was a present for my granddaughter, the only thing I can say is that we had to break open the case with a screwdriver as it had a lock in it????
