It's made with only four ingredients; guava pulp being the main one. In the guava paste made by Goya, SUGAR is the main ingredient. There's literally more sugar in Goya's guava paste than there is guava. 2. No artificial colors. But Goya's guava paste actually has THREE fake food colorings added to it (Red number 40, red number 3, yellow number 6. Not a good sign when a company needs three different food colors for something as simple as guava paste. 3. A 14 ounce block of this guava paste is only $1.99 (just 14 cents per ounce). Goya's is 34 cents per ounce (more than double the price). Despite Goya actually having less guava fruit in it. Conchita guava paste comes in at a whopping 53 cents per ounce (about FOUR TIMES the price of Iberia's). Smart buyers can do the math on this one. Why pay two or even four times as much money? 4. Iberia guava paste is natural. They don't add extra sugar. It's vegan-friendly. There's no gelatin in it, so it's both kosher and halal. BONUS PASTRY TIP: When you buy this guava paste, pick up a box of Pepperidge Farm puff pastry dough sheets from the frozen dessert section of the grocery store. It was espectacular! It’s a bit too sugary, so try to balance it off when combining to other ingredients 😉.

Its flavor is tropical and sweet, with a good presence of royal guava, not simply syrup.

First time trying guava paste. I used it in a cheesecake recipe and it turned out gummy and cloying. I understand it's an ethnic food I have zero experience with. I won't buy it again, as it is wasted on me. It arrived in secure packaging, fresh, is self-stable, all good things. It is sweet. Maybe I just picked the wrong recipe.
