Conair The Cordless Collection ~ 5/8-inch Curling Iron with Travel Case

Very nice and works exceptionally well.

Many years ago I had a couple Conair butane curling irons. I loved them! Used them regularly. Currently on a road trip and left my usual iron at home. Instead of going to Target and buying another cheap curling iron, I decided to find something cordless, that I could leave in my car to use strictly for traveling. I received this yesterday while at my son's house. I opened it and, though it is quite a bit smaller than the previous Conairs I had, it had a case and I thought it would be great for traveling! I turned it on and it started right away, and I used it.....once. This morning I have been trying and trying to light it, start it, and it just does not respond. Then I started writing this one star negative review. While it was being processed by Amazon, I figured out that there is an "on" switch and a "start" switch. It started yesterday when I turned it on, which I guess it wasn't supposed to. When I found the "start" switch, it came on and I am really happy! I'm glad I found the problem was me before it was posted! This will work well for me I'm sure!!!!!

I thought this would be the perfect solution for a trip in the Himalayas, where I wouldn’t have to worry about adapters and converters. It was delivered promptly, it comes in a handy, compact case (great for travelling) I tested it when it arrived and it worked. But that’s pretty much the end of the good news. it worked the first morning of the trip and then died. I contacted Conair and they said it’s not fixable and the only option is to fill out a warranty form. If you’re thinking this is a good option for a trip - don’t count on it!

We have gone through about 3 of these now. They work well for about 2 or 3 times and then won’t light. You can hear the butane flowing, but it will not ignite. They seem to all do the same thing and changing to a new butane cell doesn’t make any difference. I do not recommend this product as they have a very short life in my experience.

This curling iron is wonderful. I absolutely love it.
