Honest review after a month of use
I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this product and I saw so many people say that it was too hard to get the ice out of the tray. I don’t think those people read the recommendations because if you do what they say it’s not hard at all to get the ice out. They suggest running water over the top and bottom of the ice tray and then letting it sit out for a few minutes before trying to break the ice. When you do that it’s easy to get the ice broken and out of the tray. Also, another huge bonus that I’ve found is the ice freezes far quicker than plastic ice cube trays. I mainly got this to reduce plastic in our household but ended up really loving this product. Will definitely be ordering a second tray.

Solid construction. Makes ice fast. NOT plastic!
I am very happy with these ice trays. I purchased the set of 2 with the stand.-The trays work great; as others have stated you just have to wait 5 minutes to pull lever.-The stand is not perfect; one of the ice trays wobbles/leans a bit on it due to the way the stand support is designed. But it's acceptable. It helps save space in the freezer. And it sure beats anything else I've found.I have been looking for an ice maker that is not plastic - thrown away too many of those. Silicone ones are a pain to use, popping out one ice cube at a time. Got aluminum trays similar to these at hardware store. They broke quickly.Unlike the aluminum ones, these trays are heavy and solidly built. As others have noted, use them properly, and they work great. That is, (a) fill them 1/2-3/4 full and (b) let them sit on counter for 5 minutes before you pull the lever to release them.Because they are metal, they make ice so quickly.

Follow the reviews or you won't be happy
I've been wanting a non-plastic option for our ice cubes and I'm not wanting to inject microplastics, so I tried out this old-fashioned version. After a few uses, I was going to return this product because it just didn't work well and it, frankly, elicited some choice words as I tried to get ice cubes out of it. But, after coming back to this page to read other reviews to see if I was just doing something wrong, I read that it really only works if you fill them no more than halfway, let them sit on the counter for five minutes, and give the bottom a stream of cold water before THEN trying to lift the handle. You won't get actual cubes out of these without doing it that way.Because I have to let the cubes melt ever-so-slightly before trying to remove them, I have to bang the cubes part in my collection bowl to break them apart again. A bit annoying, but not enough of a problem to make me return this product.I'm a bit dubious about the thinness of the handles and suspect that I'll bend them one day, but I'll use these for now.

So far, so good
I purchased this after I finally got sick and tired of my plastic ice cube trays smelling like the freezer, no matter how many times I cleaned and removed the odor (it kept coming back). I actually bought 2 stainless steel ice cube trays: this one and one that looked just like it, but was cheaper. I froze ice in both and did a side-by-side comparison (after trying each separately and feeling I couldn't compare well enough that way). I had my opinion, but wasn't sure if I was biased by the price. So I had my husband try both trays (not knowing anything about either so completely unbiased). Both of us found that this tray worked a bit easier than the cheaper one (unfortunately). I did leave the tray out for 5 minutes on the counter before trying to break the ice cubes. At that point, it works well, as long as you didn't overfill the tray (and I like larger ice cubes so this was very difficult for me to do). These ice cubes came out with only one breaking apart - unlike the cheaper tray which broke more in the process. Also, this lever seemed to be a bit more efficient than the other. I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5 just because I've only used it a few times, and I'm a bit hesitant about how long the lever will last as it does seem like you apply a pretty good amount of pressure! If it lasts, I'd easily give this 5 stars, but only time will tell for that. My only complaint is I wish it was a deeper tray to make larger ice cubes but then maybe they wouldn't break apart at all so that may not be feasible. These ice cubes are at least decent size.

paciencia
hay que tener paciencia con el mecanismo, es esencial dejarlo afuera un rato para que la palanca haga su trabajo, porque si no se estrellan los hielos
