Fully enlightening on Documentary films. I had wrong notion about documentary being dull n boaring. The book - Barry Hampe - has put it in so nuch detail that page after page my interest rose n also found the charm in film making on facts.A very in depth knowledge imparted in the book with actual examples of script, proposal, screenplay that thrown full light on the subject.Highly reccommended to all those who wish to enter film making.

Excellent book for those who are interested in Documentary Film Making.. Detail information almost about everything you need to know..but book quality is very poor. its like buying second hand book ..

Some people are born to write, and Barry Hampe is one such person. This book is written in the style of a story-teller, not an instruction manual. Throughout, he speaks of his own experiences, permitting one to learn from his mistakes. You may find his explanations are somewhat lengthy, but therein lies the wisdom. He takes you through a series of steps at a steady pace, which you only discover retrospectively. I've been making movies for decades, but shied away from documentaries, possibly through their appearing a daunting task and seeing many of my erstwhile friends fall into the pit of despair, when finding what they filmed is almost impossible to assemble into some semblance of order. My thoughts are now, 'if only they read this book'! If you think you know a thing or two, this book will not only challenge your present knowledge, but will likely advance it to a new level, thus instilling greater confidence. Why have I only given it 4-stars? Jealousy ... I could never have written a book as good as this.
