Nice reel!
This reel is a very nice buy for the price! I can't wait to get it on the river and put some big cats on it to see how it really performs! But I'm not too worried about it. Lews have a very good reputation. So I think it will carry right on to this reel as well.

Updating again! Didn’t survive 2 years!
Not at all impressed. Nice looking, lightweight reel but has more warts than Id like for $70.00, chief among those being drag issues. On mine, the drag has to be tightened all the way down to be effective at all, which is fine for smaller fish but a real problem with bigger blues, flatheads and stripers. I run 25-lb mono, down to 60-lb leaders to get the kind of line capacity I need, so the results on larger fish are predictable-lots of break-offs. You can’t just horse the big fish out of the water with lighter line and not having a useable drag adjustment causes major issues. Although I am going to stick it out and see if this is a break-in issue, I have seriously cheap reels, like Shakespere Tidewaters and used, 30 year-old Abus that I’ve bought, that I have far more faith in. I was hoping for better value but haven’t gotten it yet.Updated 2/1/21Still not overly impressed. Good reel for trolling, not for casting. I’ve moved it to a longer, lighter rod and it IS NOT a casting monster, even with 25-lb mono. This reel is plenty strong but it’s never going to be my go-to. Ok for the $$ but my Abu’s and KastKings are safe.Latest update: I dropped my rod and reel into my boat to take a 40-lb blue off the hook and, after getting the fish back into the water, turned around to pick up my rod, only to find that the handle on the Lew’s had broken off on both sides of the screw! My boat isn’t made out of concrete, it’s fiberglass….. No way that handle should have broken off like that!As far as I’m concerned, my Lew’s experiment is over - my Abus, and KastKings are still chugging along and I’ve added 4 Piscifun Chaos baitcasters to my lineup and I’m really fond of them, so far.Bitterly disappointed with the Lew’s but I’m going to leave the rating at 3-stars because it is what it is; a lower-end starter reel that needs to be about 10-15 dollars cheaper to be in the right class. There’s no way I’m going to bother dropping $30 on a replacement handle for this reel, just for the privilege of continuing to be frustrated by it.
