Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse for Business - Black. Comfortable, Wired, USB mouse for PC/Laptop/Desktop, with fast scroll wheel, works with Mac/Windows Computers

I bought this to replace an Apple "Magic Mouse" and am very happy with this product in that role.Here's the story:The Magic Mouse has two problems, one very annoying, the other a probably a problem with Apple's mouse driver or possibly the mouse itself.The first (the annoying problem) is that in a horribly misguided paroxysm of form over function, the charging port for the Magic Mouse is on the bottom. So when the Magic Mouse runs out of battery (as it does quite often under regular use), you have to stop working, flip it on its back like an expired beetle, and wait for it to charge back up. So much for creative flow.The second is that the touch surface on the top of the Magic Mouse allows for independent left and right button presses, but does NOT allow for left-AND-right button press combinations. Some software uses these combinations as a means to extend control of area selections, which is very useful indeed - but the capability can't be accessed with the Magic Mouse because it simply won't properly handle that circumstance.The basic optical mouse here with two physical buttons has neither of these problems. It never needs charging for one, and the buttons work fine in all ways. So it has a "tail." So what. It works, that's the important thing. The tail is no issue at all.

The last time I bought this mouse, it was combo'd together with "Battlefield 1942" in 2002. It came in a white color, and I used the ever living hell out of it. It's simple, doesn't have crazy doo-dads that break off, and has everything you need; Right click, left click, scroll wheel + middle click, and is digital/accurate.It wasn't until 2020 when it started to show it's age. Scroll wheel was less responsive, L/R clickers springs were pretty much burned out of their..."springiness"? In any case, that doesn't mean it's story ended there. I chucked it in my laptop bag, and it became my secondary mouse for work and travel. It still works! 20 years of service from a very humble mouse! And that's with two decades of unhealthy amounts of gaming.I loved it so much, I bought the mouse in this listing, which is the EXACT same mouse, but in black (to match my computer build). Here's to hopefully another 20 years!

I like to make sure that I always have a spare mouse as I used to go through them very quickly. I used to be able to buy them at a nearby store with a replacement plan, and I always made good used of the replacement plan. I am not very near a store I can do that with anymore, so ordering on-line is the next-best thing, even though I can't order a replacement plan with it, or I haven't figured out how to do that any ways.Then, I figured out that maybe I should be using a new mouse now as I haven't replaced mine in a while, and it did really help improve my computer-using. I guess my former mouse was wearing out and I didn't analyze what might improve the situation. This helped improve things.The mouse works fine for me, no problems yet.

I've started taking a laptop on occasional over-night trips. At home, I have a Microsoft wheel mouse optical USB mouse but don't want to risk it traveling as they aren't made anymore. This Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse for Business is smaller but it works just as well.Definitely not a gaming mouse but a useful travel mouse.

I had one of these about 6 or 7 years ago at work. They replaced it with a new one but was not as good as this mouse. The simplicity of the shape, and the design really makes this a solid mouse. It is wired mouse, but the button click, scrolling, and movement is great. New wireless mouse seem to float on movement. Requiring a lot of adjustment but they still float. You stop at the spot, and it misses the mark. This mouse does not do that. Partly because it is wired. The shape is a good size, I believe, for most sizes. Not too small, not too large. The last part was the price. I had searched a few months ago, and found the mouse for $23 US. Not sure why it is so expensive. Simple design, expecting simple price. Finally Amazon suggested to me with the price at $8 US. This is very cheap for the wired mouse. Not sure when I searched for it, I could not get that price, but scrolling through it was eventually suggested to me from Amazon.

This mouse is a Microsoft branded workhorse. I'm guessing it's the standard mouse found in most businesses. My last Microsoft mouse finally bit the dust after many years of use and buying the same mouse to replace it was an easy choice. Definitely a solid mouse at an affordable price.

While I'm not a big fan of Microsoft, this is a good, basic mouse that will get the job done if, like me, you prefer to use a mouse that plugs in rather than a wireless one. Responsiveness and build quality are good, and this comes with a USB to PS/2 adapter for use with older PC equipment or docks (or for keeping an extra USB port available). One thing that bears mentioning is that this mouse may be a bit large for users accustomed to wireless mice or to other non ergonomic mice on the market today. It's the same basic design Microsoft has used forever.

Got this as a replacement for another (very old) Microsoft mouse that had a problem with one of the mouse buttons. This only complaint that my wife has is that the sound of the click is louder than the previous one, not a big issue for us but it might be an issue where the mouse being silent is paramount. Overall a great mouse.
