Fantastic Waffle Maker that Makes Two Waffles at Once - Easy to Use, Cooks Evenly, Very Nonstick
After nearly a decade of faithful use, my Villaware Uno Waffle Maker with interchangeable heart and Belgian waffle plates finally broke. It was a sad day for our household, but we had to move on and look for another waffle iron as Villaware no longer makes that particular iron. After some searching, we finally settled on the B&D Double Flip Waffle Maker. While I loved my Villaware, the B&D waffle iron is quickly filling that empty space in both my heart and stomach. The Double Flip Waffle Maker heats up quickly, is beautifully nonstick, and get this - it makes TWO waffles at ONE time! Now, instead of having to split a waffle for my kids to share while I heat up a second one for them to share again so they would have a full waffle to eat each, I can heat up two waffles, have them eat their breakfasts at the same time without having to break anything in half, and have enough time to make an actually waffle for both me and my husband. This waffle maker was a breakfast game changer for our family! While this iron lacks a temperature control that my old waffle iron had, I've discovered over the years that I actually left the temp at the same spot simply because once a perfect setting was discovered, I never needed to change it. This waffle iron is in perpetual "perfect setting" mode. The waffles I've made come out crisp on the outside, lightly browned, and familiarly delicious. Simply pour in the batter, close, flip, pour in more batter, flip again, and wait for the iron to stop steaming. For those who don't multitask, you will need to set a timer as this one doesn't have any timers or beepers to let you know your waffle is done. The one gripe I have is that this iron doesn't come with removable plates for easy cleaning, but because the plates are so non stick, the plates were easy enough to clean with a simple wipe down.Overall, I'm very pleased with this waffle iron. We've had it for a month now with frequent use - I'm looking forward to many more delicious waffle breakfasts to come!

Love it
Loving this. As a parent and the know how to cook, this is a great addition to my kitchen arsenal. Fluffy and lightly crispy waffles every time. As suggested, about 1/2 cup mix should do the trick. Berries or chocolate in the mix is amazing. Tip....grease it. Melted butter or vegetable oil work. I use a rubber brush to oil both sides when the light turns green. Yes. Brush a little oil on it before use. Brush it on before you plug it in. Great addition.

Does the job, oil the irons between waffles to save yourself a lot of clean-up
I really, REALLY wanted the $200 version of this waffle iron (in another brand, alas) but since we are a family of 4 and only make waffles once or twice a month, this seemed the smarter option. Here's my 3 month, approximately 50-waffle assessment of this purchase.Pros:* relatively cheap* can cook 2 sets of waffles within 6-8 minutes (good for families with kids who want their freakin' waffles already!)* pretty even bake on all parts of the waffle (both sides)* can make soft waffles or crisp waffles depending on recipe & cooking time* easy clean-up IF YOU BRUSH CANOLA OIL ON IRON BETWEEN WAFFLE JOBS* handy drip tray really does collect 95% of drips* exterior of the unit cleans up easily, even if it is essentially coated in batter (that was a rough morning)Cons:* batter/waffle sticks to the iron... I have tried 5 different recipes with this iron, including a gluten-free version, and ALL of them stuck to the iron unless I brushed canola oil on it between waffles* no way to tell if the waffle is cooked to perfection: yes, I read other reviews indicating that when it stops steaming it is done, but that doesn't tell me if it is barely cooked, lightly browned or hard as a rock* if you make the mistake of listening to the manufacturer's instructions and applying batter to the iron without canola oil, clean up is a major headache* drip tray only handles small drips: larger decision-making failures that come with multitasking 2 waffles at once--i.e., dumping way too much batter on the iron--will result in a mess all over the iron, drip tray, and counter top.... it would be nice if they could make a drip tray that fits under the whole unit* takes up a lot of storage spaceAll in all, I am glad I did not buy the more expensive version of this waffle maker. It does what it is supposed to do, and if you pay attention to cooking time and keep the irons oiled, it'll make some darn good waffles.Solid 4 star purchase.

Makes a great waffle
I just got this yesterday. I followed the cooking directions that are in the manual. It heated up quickly. I used 3/4 cup of batter. I poured it in the middle of the plates and let gravity spread it around. I like my waffles brown but still soft. I cooked it for 4 minutes and it came out perfectly. I used the Hungry Jack pancake/waffle mix not a from scratch recipe. It's a compact machine so putting it away in my pantry will be easy. This is perfect for a single person or family.I know there are people that don't like reading the manual that come with machines but, I would suggest for safety sake that you read how to properly use ANY machine you buy, but especially any machines that have the potential of starting fires in your home. Once you know how to properly use the machine then you can play around with and get creative. So far I'm happy with it.I think it's a good buy for the price.Hopefully they improve on this one by making one with a cooking timer and removable plates that can be washed.
