BUY THIS CURLING IRON
Ok, I’m going to be honest with y’all: I am a girl who, up until a week ago, knew how to do like, 4 things to my hair and make it look *somewhat* presentable. I could blow dry it straight, pull it back into some sort of nest on top of my head, put some product in it and let it dry, and sometimes make it look good with a diffuser (I have wavy/slightly curly hair naturally). YOU NEED THIS CURLING IRON.I was terrified of the idea of it at first, but I got it at a reduced price the day or two after Christmas after not getting it from Santa. I wasn’t sure how it was going to work for me because any other hair tool I’ve gotten to make my hair look fabulous I could never figure out (or I was just too lazy to take my time with it). The fact that it kinda “sucks” your hair into it was enough to make me uncomfortable about it at first, but I figured I’d give it a shot because it was a bit cheaper than it was a few days earlier.Y’all. This thing is virtually foolproof. I was nervous the first few curls I did because I was certain it was going to suck my hair into it, get stuck, catch on fire, send me running frantically around the block until I stuck my head in a snow drift, and leave me with a bald spot. But then, this amazing thing happened: I tried to put too much hair into the chamber (because, again, I’m lazy), and it just stopped. It wouldn’t suck the hair into the chamber. It stopped. It forces you to use the appropriate amount of hair for each curl not only for safety, but for optimal results. I’ll even admit that the first time I used it on New Year’s Eve, I was one day post-wash and didn’t feel like washing and drying just to try this thing out, and even though it says for optimal results to use on freshly cleaned, dry hair (I know what you’re thinking: “you lil rebel, you.” And, I am), it still turned out fabulously.LAZY GIRLS, THIS IS YOUR DREAM CURLING IRON. The first time I used it, I used it on the 12 second setting and it took me nearly 45 minutes to get through all my hair (I don’t have especially thick hair, but I have a decent amount of hair). You guys? I’ve used it 3 times in the last week and last night, I’ve gotten so good at it that it only took me about 25 minutes to curl my whole head.I immediately fell in love with this thing, but here’s where I’m sold on it. Yesterday evening, I curled. I went out on the town, things happened that I’m not sure I remember (not due to any brain damage from the heat of the iron, but because of my own poor decision making completely unrelated to this purchase), and it’s cold as balls outside so I was wearing a hat and a hood when I was outside. I went home, slept on it, laid around all day on it (we’ll say I “came down” with a 24 hour “flu”), pulled it back in a ponytail, decided I needed to go get something to eat, took it out of the ponytail, brushed it out, used no extra product (last night I sprayed a minimal amount of extra hold hairspray that I should probably write a review on next), and while it doesn’t look the same as it did yesterday, I’m still getting complimented on it and I still feel fabulous despite my current state. **🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Game-Changer for Effortless Curls!**
**🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Game-Changer for Effortless Curls!**The Conair Curl Secret has been a lifesaver for styling my hair! I was initially unsure about its unique design, but once I gave it a try, I realized how easy it makes curling my hair. It automatically draws in sections of hair and heats them gently, creating bouncy and natural-looking curls. What I love most is how much time it saves—I can style my entire head in about 15 minutes. It’s also surprisingly gentle on my hair, leaving it looking shiny and healthy. Since purchasing it back in October 2020, it’s become a staple in my beauty routine, especially for special occasions. If you’re after hassle-free styling with amazing results, I highly recommend this tool! 😊

It works fairly well BUT ONLY WHEN I HOLD and COUNT PAST THE MAXIMUM TIMER on highest setting
I purchased the dark purple unit and received a unit in the typical branded Conair box.I have fine, poker straight hair that is reluctant to take and hold a curl. I found on the highest heat, for the longest duration, this product would NOT properly curl my hair. The end result was barely a curl at the end and a very subtle wave that quickly fell out in the humidity (40% humid here). I noticed the 12 second setting only lasted ~9.5 seconds (when timed with stopwatch on phone) because the countdown happens starting when the curling iron begins to suck in your hair --- NOT when the beeping starts after loading is completed. I called customer support and was told to return the unit as it sounded defective.I received my replacement quickly. I believe it to be hotter, however the timing is exactly the same. My hair is long and as such i lose a fair amount of time during ingestion. WHAT I FOUND, however, is if I count to five AFTER the beeping stops - I can cook my hair for longer which results in the curl/wave I desire. This curl lasts longer than most curling irons though I've definitely had better from one of those expensive ceramic irons where you have to use a glove as it gets so hot there's no clasping mechanism on the wand or it'd leave a kink. (that other curling iron will hold curly queue curls that make you look like you were born with curly hair even by the lake for a full day-- ... this one is better for waves if you have stubborn hair). When adding the extra time on the highest setting -- I have curly queue curls that last up to a couple hours, then waves. By the next morning I have additional body and just a subtle flip/wave at the end of my hair. Which meets my needs, as I really just wanted an easier way to get wavy hair.As for the unit it's fairly easy to use. You definitely need to be mindful about maintaining narrow chunks that aren't too deep or thick or you won't get the right amount of heat, and the unit is very likely to choke on anything which exceeds its expectations. Most times the unit chokes on your hair it's easy to fix. A couple times it took a bit of careful unweaving and untangling to release my hair. You can burn yourself with this, if you inadvertently touch the open end where the hair goes in to your head while 'cooking' (that's the side that must face you anyway). However it's harder to burn yourself than with a normal iron. This unit isn't much faster if at all than a normal iron however automating the winding/ingestion of your hair does make it go a bit faster than old fashioned winding by hand -- and it's easier on your body because you don't have to twist your wrist while holding it in an awkward position.Because of the required position of the unit (always facing your head directly) the only way to get the back of my hair is to pull my hair to the side at an angle (not all that unusual for any iron though more so with this one) so you have to fluff your hair a bit to hide the part this creates naturally at the back of your head. This unit isn't ideal for the small piece by the front of my face (bangs-ish layer) because of the angle required due to size of the unit.
