Money Matters Workbook for Teens (ages 11-14)

Excellent Introduction
I am using this book with my 11 (almost 12) year old daughter and her 13 year brother. We have had some fantastic discussions regarding money. The book provides a wonderful springboard if you want to chat further along with many projects that can help the kids reign in the concepts better. We have almost finished the book now. We are in the chapter regarding loans. Today I was able to show my kids how making early payments on your mortgage or bimonthly payments not only reduce the interest but also substantially reduce the length of the loan. The concepts are definitely written in a format that touch the age group listed and I look forward to use the next workbook in a few years, especially once my kids have jobs and are of the age group listed for that text.

Build up financial mind earlier
My girl read through whole content in two days after I bought her this book. She told me some definitions she couldn’t understand (she is 10) and asked a lot questions. We are very happy we got this book for her when she just generate some curious about money.

Excessively religious
This book is excessively religious, which was something I was not aware of when purchasing it. For instance on page 63 it says "Believe it or not some folks tithe more than 10%. .T.they may give 20%,30%, or more. Sounds crazy, it's not really. they figure it's god's money anyway. God takes care of all their needs with what's left. Let's say you've got a good job and you're making $40,000 a year. You tithe 10%, $4000. You work hard do well did some races and pretty soon you are making $80,000 a year. you want to thank god for the raises so you tithe 20%, $16,000. you're still left with 28,000 more than you had before (of course most people don't see it that way they pour their extra earnings in the bigger houses and faster colors just what they need more parking to backing of the more speeding tickets to pay off)."Below that it goes into a couple of paragraphs of scripture. The entire books is filled with passages similar to the one above, so much so that any financial learning is lost to dogma & scholasticism. Unless you are an extreme fundamentalist, try another book.

Why is a money workbook talking about Jesus?!?
I’m a special ed life skills teacher in a public school and was looking for some independent work for my teenage students. It would have been great if the description mentioned that this is a Christian themed money workbook. I obviously can’t use it and am super frustrated that (what I consider to be) very important information about the product was left out of the description.
