Bought it as replacement for my home office chair. The mechanism on mine has started to lower on its own so instead of getting new chair I decided to change cylinder. It was a hard work 😓 to remove original but once did it was quick swap and it operated great. Hopefully will get few years out of it, unless I decide to get new chair 🤪

A review in two parts. Most relevant - I've only been using this for a week - it seems fine - slightly higher than the original strut which was what I wanted - and it doesn't leak and rapidly sink which was a problem with the old one. How long will it last - who knows.... But - if you are in the market for one of these - please remove the old one first. I say that because the top search results make it look like this will be a piece of cake - it is 100% not. I have access to every tool known to man, but I wound up building a couple of piles of bricks, suspending the seat mount between them and using a piece of pipe to whack the old strut out with a sledgehammer. Even that took nearly 5 minutes. Removing the old one is very far from trivial!

I did not want to go spending over 100 on another office chair and mine kept dropping every time you sat on it (so I didn't). I googled it all and ended up purchasing this one, saving quite a lot of money. It took some solid banging to get the old one out, but this fit in easily (just remember to take off the blue cap on the center cylinder...I kept wobbling all over the place before I had that rather stupid eureka moment). For the price, it's easy to install. I was only concerned by how far it went down into the base, which wasn't much, but I think the other one was longer than it needed to be. The chair is now rising and holding the height, not wobbly and I use it nearly daily.

This gas lift cylinder performed adequately for its first six months, providing smooth and reliable height adjustments. However, its longevity is severely disappointing, failing immediately after the six month mark. The Failure: The primary issue appears to be a failed rubber seal. This failure caused the chair to gradually tilt over time but, more critically, has resulted in a complete loss of stability. The gas mechanism now exhibits a distinct, unsettling tilt and wobble, particularly when shifting weight or leaning back.

My tilt component had become bent over time & I had to replace it, when it came time to, no matter what I did, or what tool I used, I could not get the piston out from it. Then I had a big brain idea, just replace the piston as well & I was shocked when I realised just how cheap they are to replace. All I had to do was make sure the wheel base hole was 50mm in diameter & it was... I use a Sitmod gaming chair & with this & the tilt mechanism purchase, it's like I have a whole new chair for 1/4 of the price of a new one. (£140 for new one) I could not be happier, it's the exact amount of height I need for my desk.

I have a chair that I like - still really comfy and cost around £100. When the gas went, I soldiered on for a bit but then decided enough was enough. I did look for a second hand chair but for the price people were asking, I thought I'd look to see if I could repair mine instead... and yes I could! Watched a few tutorials beforehand and then ordered this. It was not an easy feat removing the existing canister but once it was out, this fit into place no trouble at all. Works exactly as it should and saved me the cost of a new chair. Alot more eco friendly too!

I have a well worn but extremely comfortable office chair however the gas strut failed. Shopping around the prices were variable, some being downright silly. I thought as my chair is pretty worthless now i was not prepared to pay over the odds, so I tried this bargain. Simple to fit, once i had eventually removed the old strut (thank you YouTube) Works perfectly and has given my old girl a new lease of life.

El producto es realmente bueno, cumple con lo esperado. Me decidí por el modelo más largo, y es que a diferencia de precio va aguantar mucho más que elegir uno más corto... ¿porque? Es pura física. Mi silla tenía un pistón que estaba al máximo de extendido y aún así se quedaba algo baja para la mesa, el pistón no debe estar nunca extendido al máximo ya que nuestro peso creará un efecto n palanca sobre el apoyo del pistón dentro del cilindro, y cuanto menor es este apoyo, más rápidamente vence el peso, por lo que empezarán a aparecer campaneos en la silla. Con el piston más largo, comprimido al máximo, mi silla quedaba a la misma altura que con el piston viejo, pero una vez extendido lo suficiente, apenas 5cm, el 80% del pistón está dentro del cilindro por lo que el apoyo es mucho mayor lo que se traducirá en que probablemente esté piston dure toda la vida y más de la silla sin tener ningún juego lateral o fallo. Elije siempre un pistón que te sobre, y al menos que un 60% del pistón quede dentro del cilindro cuando esté en tu altura deseada. Desmontar lo no es complicado, la mayoría son "universales", por lo que con un martillo de goma y algo de tacto sacas las patas, desmontas el armazón de la silla y en un tornillo de banco o apoyo golpeas con un buen martillo el pistón viejo hacia abajo, sin darle en su centro, sino en el lateral metálico. Mi silla tenía un pequeño registro y fue suficiente para sacar el pistón de dos golpes. Montar el nuevo, es poner el pistón y golpear con cuidado la base de la silla sujetando con la mano el pistón extendido, a fin de evitar dar martillazos al pistón y dañar lo, no hay que darle nunca al pistón directamente ni tener este apoyado para hacer tope, podemos dañar el mecanismo. Realmente me quedo uno 4mm por debajo de la marca original, pero también puede ser debido a que el otro pistón era ligeramente más fino en su punta, quedo rígido y duro. Luego es montar la silla de nuevo y mientras sujetamos el cilindro del pistón ponemos la base con ruedas y de nuevo un par de golpes de martillo de goma.

Door al het thuiswerk en hobby op dezelfde stoel slijt alles wat sneller dan normaal. Gasveer was aan vervanging toe. Opgemeten en deze besteld in dezelfde maat. Snel bezorgd, prima verpakt. Paste precies. Gaat wat stroef omhoog/omlaag, maar niet zodanig dat het een probleem vormt. Betrouwbaarheid/duurzaamheid moet nog blijken, maar gezien de prijs is het sowieso goedkoper dan een originele gasveer van de fabrikant van mijn stoel, zelfs al gaat hij maar drie maanden mee. Update 31 mei 2023: Gasveer werkt nog steeds prima. Stroefheid was alleen aan het begin merkbaar, hij loopt nu lekker soepel. Prima kwaliteit voor deze prijs.
