mixed thoughts
As the title indicates, I have mixed thoughts about these casings. While they are perfect and symmetrical, there's something I like about the shape of natural casings. I'm sure this doesn't apply to everyone but for me, because they are so perfectly shaped, I can't shake the feeling that it seems unnatural to eat these. The quality is great and there's really no flavor but for some reason my body and mind have chosen to be purists here. Otherwise a very good product.

Don't believe the Negative reviews without trying yourself.
I received my casings today. My first batch of Italian sausage was ready and I was nervous. I wanted to try the natural casings but then the horrible smell issue associated with them gave me reason to try the collagen.I have a sausage stuffer coming but did not want to wait to with my meat grinder and the attachments I slipped this stuff onto the 1.5" tube. I put as much as I could and the cut and tied. Not knowing how much I need for 4 lbs of sausage I knew I will get better with time. I knew I could use the casings out of the bag, no soaking or any preparation, you just don't twist those to form links, you just tie them. I also knew that the sausage had to have enough liquid when mixed (1 cup/4-5 lbs) and the casings had to feel full.... Not stuffed. Stuffed is what causes them to break and that happens when you try to form the links either by twisting then tying or by pinching.I have not used the natural casings and I understand they do stretch better when that is needed. The trade off and convenience for me is not worth it at least not for now.For the reviewer that had them break often I can bet they were stuffed too firm and or did not have enough liquid. (Not judging) by any means, I am just saying that for me, and my first ever try at making my own sausage and with the collagen casing, I am sold and have not had any issues. It did not take much of this to handle my 4 lbs. I know it will last me a good bit and I would recommend you give this a try and decide for yourself. I myself do not have the time for the natural stuff, the soaking, and the rinsing, the pinching and dealing with the smell, then re-salting and repacking what you have not used.This I can definitely live with.

Sausage Casing
The product arrived on time but no instruction on how to use. When making sausage, the casing kept breaking and causing a mess. With a Kitchen Aid Mixer, the casing was not strong enough to handle the meat being filled in a downward motion. The meat was too heavy for the casing. Hmmm

Collagen casings
I had tried natural casings before ordering these collagen ones so I know both types. The reason I tried these is basically because while my spouse loves the home made sausages, she wasn't fond of the toughness of the natural casings.The product was quickly shipped and arrived within days which was a nice start as I wanted to make my next batch soon. I had no trouble in stuffing 5lbs of sausage with either splitting the casings while filling or in twisting the casings afterward before tying them into links. I loved the ease of use and the fact that I could take them out and put them on the feed tube and go. They seemed plenty tough enough to me, and I can't see why casings would be inclined to split while filling or cooking unless they were being overstuffed. A great product overall and while natural casings have there place and will still be used, I'll probably use these most often in the future.

sausage casings
Maybe because it was the first time my husband and I made sausages, but for us, these casings split when we started cooking them in the pan. Possibly we over stuffed them so we shall try again.

IT IS GOOD, QUALITY IS ACCEPTED
As i am doing my research work with that so it is well and good for this purpose, besides, for research purpose storage ability of the product is very crucial and that is satisfying i think....and one more thing that is disappointed me that the packing should be more better for this kind products...

A challenge to comment on
Collagen casings. They are reasonably priced. They arrived when promised. I was going to give this 4-stars, not 5. But I changed my mind. Yeah, collagen casings are boring. So I need to rate on service and care. Products arrived promptly on my first order. Second order from the same company produced a veritable fortress of packaging. I got more than just the casings; I got a few taped and boxed layers of items. All my products arrived safely, protected by many layers of packing. Some fine individual was looking out for my product.Summary: damn fine product and delivery. I'm an Amazon prime buyer. I deviate from that with caution. This deviation produced a second buy. In time, I suspect many other purchases.

Great service, great product
I started making sausage a few years ago and it would definitely be an inconvenience without these casings and this purveyor. A couple things:1) Collagen casings may not be as exciting or as strong as natural casings (I made a few rookie mistakes overstuffing the casings, twisting the links too hard, etc. but only once) but they are easier to store and easier to handle. I usually keep mine in the pantry as needed.2) I've ordered these casings on three occasions now (often close to the holidays) and my order's always been shipped within two business days of ordering.I've since taught a few other people to make sausage and it's become something of a holiday tradition in my house. If you're planning on making sausage this is a great, convenient option.
