I primarily bought these for ambiance. They fit on the front side of my gazebo perfectly and cast a great warm yellow twinkle. I hadn't realized it until receiving the set but there is also a 'blink' setting as well. Naturally with their small size they did not "light up" the outdoor area but definitely helped create a pretty atmosphere. Unfortunately after about a week, it rained and the lights immediately went off. I waited a couple of days for them to dry out. (I have cheapo .97 cent solar stake lights that do this: get wet, turn off, dry out, and come back on.) After an adequate amount of time and still no twinkle, I manually covered the solar plate and the lights weakly flickered on but then went off again. Since they did not seem like they would work properly, I decided to just return. Luckily the return process was extremely easy and painless. Overall I was disappointed because I really liked them when they worked. Maybe it was a glitched set but seeing as they're labeled waterproof they should be able to withstand a light shower or at the very least bounce back with no problems.

With the amount of sunlight we get during the winter/holiday season the lights stay lit for a very short period of time. Even in the blinking(energy saving) mode some days it lasted less than half an hour. On bright/sunny days it lasted about two hours or a little more. Given the environmental benefit and no hassle of pulling wires all over the yard, I will continue to use these. If you are particular about having the lights up for a long time and you live in the northern part then these are not for you.

I purchased several of these lights for my backyard. I LOVE them, they are bright and last a while (approximately 4-6 hours after a full day of charging in the sun)!! The only reason I gave four stars is because one set broke after about 3 months. I was able to splice the wires and use electrical tape to hold it together, it works but sometimes they come apart and I need to re-tape them. I'm sure they would work best inside away from the elements...but I purchased them to use outdoors. The other set is still going strong and bright!! I recommend these and will most likely purchase them again.

work but are not very bright, good for atmosphere but not for actually lighting a dark area.Update: after using less than 2 months, these lights are no longer fully functioning, one string is now completely dark, the other has some lights still working. Of course now I'm out of the time window when I could return the item. Do not order.

I was not too impressed with these. I purchased these for a wedding—strung between posts along with white tulle in order to light a pathway at night. For the purpose of the one day, they worked well. We set them out the day before so that they could absorb some sun. The night of, they worked well, but ended up dimming quite a bit later on in the night after a few hours of use. The wire is very stiff and gets tangled easily. After the wedding, I used one strand for my back patio, and they never held the charge like I would have liked. Eventually I just took them down. I think if they were priced under $20, they would be worth purchasing, but the price is a bit steep for the quality of product.

Have had these lights four years now. I wanted to purchase another set but they are no longer available. My husband strong trimmed them, I pulled a wire out once. I keep fixing them and they keep going. Amazing!! Too bad I cant get them any longer.

I bought a bunch of these for christmas and I LOVE that they are solar powered so they don't spike our energy bill but they stay lit for less than 5 hours which isn't very long at all in my opinion. I have others from a different brand that are still lit the next morning when I leave for work. I also have some sets that don't work in both modes. If they work in the flashing mode then they don't work in just the steady on mode. I really wish these would have stayed lit longer & been more dependable to work correctly!

Nice ambiance in camp but don't expect bright lighting. I strung these long lights - very much a plus to hang such a long strand - around the perimeter of camp for ambiance. We had lanterns over the table for big lighting. They look lovely.My only issue was the long re-charge time. The charger needs to be in direct sunlight for most of the day - one of our days was over cast and no lights that night :(Make sure your solar panel is is full sun.
